With the latest solicitations (September, I believe), DC has finally announced a 2-part JSA CLASSIFIED tale I wrote that pits Hourman against Bane. That's right, two pill-popping, super-drug injecting dudes going at it, mano-a-mano! The art is by Scott McDaniel, and I could not be more excited about it. That guy packs so much kinetic energy into his work, it's a wonder his pencil doesn't vibrate to pieces!

It's also a treat for me to revisit Hourman, since I used to edit an HOURMAN series when I worked on staff at DC. It was, in my humble opinion, a little gem -- with Tom Peyer and Rags Morales doing some of their very best, most heartfelt work. Great, goofy fun.

Ironically, I wound up writing an animated film for the grandson of Hourman creator Bernard Baily. Somehow, the Man of the Hour has become a significant force in my life. Go figure.

As for this CLASSIFIED story, it's called "The Venom Connection." I only hope Chuck Dixon aproved my handling of Bane, especially since I'm working with his old NIGHTWING partner.

I'm picking it up since I JSA: Classified is on my pull list. Sadly, I don't know anything about Hourman so I'm looking forward to this. I want to know about his character.

Don't we all, Scratchie?

I look forward to this. I, like YA, have a limited knowledge of Hourman but he does strike me as an interesting character.

I've yet to get the whole series, but every issue of it that I was lucky enough to read was pure gold. You and Tom Peyer and Rags Morales did a spectacular job.

Awesome! Now, if you'll just go tell 100,000 of your friends to do the same...
