2006 Camp CBR Weenie Roast / CBR 10th Anniversary Celebration!

This year’s Weenie Roast will be held on the evening of Thursday, July 20, at De Anza Cove (http://www.sandiego.gov/park-and-recreation/parks/missionbay/deanzacove.shtml), Mission Bay Park (http://www.sandiego.gov/lifeguards/beaches/mbay.shtml). Start time is around 7PM-ish (someone will be there early to hold a picnic area) and will end when the sprinklers come on.

Please reply here, even if you’ve replied in the Comic-Con International: San Diego 2006 thread (http://forums.comicbookresources.com/showthread.php?t=91222), so that we can get a more accurate headcount. Also give an idea of how many hot dogs and hamburgers you will eat.

Cost:
The price this year is $10/person. This includes food (burgers and hot dogs on rolls, chips, s'mores, and other snacks), non-alcoholic beverages, condiments, firewood, and other supplies. You may Paypal your money to me ahead of time at mattbib@comcast.net up until July 14 or give me cash on the night of Wednesday, July 19. If I don’t have money from you by that Wednesday I won’t be able to buy food for you.

Booze:
Bring your own beer and liquor. Please make sure you've got a designated driver if you're drinking. Glass bottles are not allowed in the park so keep it to cans, or at least keep bottles concealed. Also, the park only allows alcohol consumption until 8PM, so be warned if, like me, you plan to continue drinking afterward.

Fun and Games:
I mean in addition to booze… If you play a musical instrument bring it! Also feel free to suggest games or other activities. Remember, this is also CBR’s 10th Anniversary. We’ll get a cake and we could play Pin-the-Tail on Jonah or something…

Transportation:
Attendees are responsible for finding their own rides to and from the Weenie Roast. There are limited CBRians with vehicles this year so don’t expect to be able to just hitch a ride at the last minute. Plan to carpool or call a cab if necessary. PLAN AHEAD!

Directions:
Mission Bay spans 4,600 acres. It is bordered by East Mission Bay Drive to the east (which parallels Interstate 5), Sea World Drive to the south (which intersects with Interstate 5), and Mission Boulevard to the west. To the north, Grand Avenue is the closest major street, but it is not directly adjacent to Mission Bay. To reach Mission Bay from the north or south, take Interstate 5 to the exit for East Mission Bay Drive, Grand Avenue, Clairemont Drive, or Sea World Drive.

Make that it's definitely not going to work out. The quoted prices are astronomical this late in the game, and they still wouldn't be able to get them to me by the Weenie Roast (I've gotten multiple quotes).

Any other suggestions? Maybe I can get them after the fact and mail them to everyone who shows up at the Weenie Roast. Or we could come up with some other souvenir...
