I have no idea what team that is. Some team with a bloodshot parrot eye for a logo? :)

And California has how many teams that didn't win the Stanley Cup?:D

It's the National Association of Nose Picking Enthusiasts!

That's it, boys! Show off those magnificent boogers you've found! Display them with pride!

I keed.

They were the favourites going into the series and they played like they deserved it tonight. The Oilers sure gave a good show though. It would have been a beautiful story if they had won tonight, but at least Mike Commodore will get to have the cup he was denied two years ago. He and a whole pile of other Canadians. I think the Hurricanes have more Canadians than the Oilers do.

And it was cool that the Hurricanes fans reciprocated the Oilers fans' gesture and sang O Canada.

That is a picture full of bad playoff beards.

That logo Rick is, as my friend Pete called it, the eye of death!

Hockey, right? Kinda like rugby on ice (is it ice hockey???) but with lots of protective padding and big sticks? Gosh, they're very hairy, aren't they. Hmmm. I see they still have all their teeth and ears, unlike rugby players. Vicious and manly sport, rugger. Yes indeed.

BTW, Otto - just what IS Kool-Aid? Is it a medicinal aid of some sort, as in something you slap on insect bites or carpet burns? If so, why is it grape/cherry flavoured and why do you hate it?

Kool Aid is an awful potion consisting of pretend fruit flavors, water, sugar, sugar, and, well...uhm...sugar. All it is good for is increasing dental bills for children and driving them to insane fits of hyperactivity...sounds great, huh ?

Didn't the Kings win the cup at some point, way back when? See, I don't know. Actually, I don't care....hockey, me no like. Although I do like sports in general and have been to a Ducks game and an Avalanche game...I'll go anywhere where I can go with my friends and eat crap for 4 hours straight. :)

(And I still don't know what team that is. :( )

I heard that the league is going to sell all the hair of all the playoff beards on ebay. No joke. You can buy the whiskers of a NHL Stanley cup winner.

The money is going to charity.

I guess that's a good thing. I guess.

(And I still don't know what team that is. :( ) I guess I didn't say "Hurricanes" enough times in my last post? ;) (as in: Carolina).

I think you'd enjoy hockey if you watched it with serious enthusiasts. I think the sheer energy of the Edmonton fans in Game 6 is what fueled the Oilers and flattened Carolina. They were just one big solid roar.

I think it's quite telling that a large number of Oilers fans not only drove all the way to North Carolina for Game 7 but were also able to get tickets from Ticketmaster! For Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final! I mean, what the hell kind of non-hockey-loving-non-franchise-deserving community do they have in North Carolina? The team deserved the cup but not the community, IMO. That's a bummer.

There should be no NHL franchises in places that the ponds don't freeze at least part of the year and kids don't whack a ball around in the street and have to shout "CAR!" every 5 minutes and drag the nets out of the way.:p

I wish the Oilers had won last night but it sure was a great game to watch.

Yeah... I don't read posts unless my name's in 'em. ;)

Like I said, I enjoy watching sports in general. I don't mind hockey. I just don't follow it, is all. I'm an NFL fan. (Go Broncos!)

Been a Broncos fan for many losing Elway years until the grail years of 2 in a row (thanks John and Terrell!)...hockey wise Ruta, i remember watching the Tampa Bay-Calgary series on Tv and amazed at all the empty seats in TB, go figure..americans and their love of Nascar.

Having the Canes win sure takes the sting out of our Habs getting beat by them. Truth be told, we really just gave up after game 3 so at that point, the BLUES would have beat us.

Rugby? Oh, you mean the sport the Colonies improved by adding the forward pass?
As to Kool-Aid? PsychoFyre said it best. Sugar, sugar and sugar along with fruit flavor and colouring that stains the mouth and tonge. Red for cherry, purple for grape. And were as I don't mind a red mouth, I don't want a purple one.
Rick? (got yer attention?) If ya grow up with hockey it becomes a passion unlike football (North American rugby), baseball or basketball.
estee? The world is a funny place.
ruta? So glad yer not the Commissioner of Hockey. Yet.:D
Gary? Except for my stronge dislike of Chris Pronger, I was rooting for the Oilers too.
Mike? Snarky, snarky. I await the day when everyone wakes up to the fact that this entertainment wastes millions of gallons of fuel each year.

I'm not really a hockey man but I watched the series with some people who are HUGE Canes fans, and it was alot more fun. And well, living in NC I feel obligated to root for the Canes.:p
