I hate to be maudlin, but I was just thinking that all the people here are my best friends.
I found this place because of Scott! Shaw's Oddball Comics and as a result, have met many people who I consider my best friends.
Especially Scott!, Mike Kuypers, Cherokee Jack, Lone Ranger, Buzz Dixon, MWGallaher, Eltini, Infobroker, T-Guy, Cei-U, Michikos, R. Raider, Jonn Jonzz, Sir Tim, Deathstroke, and everyone else who has posted here.
This thread is sort of like the last scene in the Wizard of Oz when everyone is gathered around Dorothy's bed. "No, it was real, you were there and you were there and you............."
Cheers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds ominous. Are you going somewhere, ROK?

You are one of the first people with whom I connected back when I first joined up as kidflash a few years back.
I have always been very impressed by your intelligence, your sense of humour and your love of funnybooks. I have really appreciated your pinch hitting on the GTCC game - it's pretty thankless work and you are Mr. Reliable.
If you ever find yourself north of the border, you're always welcome to come by my house, kick up your heels and raise a glass.
For me, it's great to know that I've got a friend in Tejas.
Cheers!

Hey, ROK, *I* feel lucky and privileged to know *you*.
If you ever find yourself north of the border, you're always welcome to come by my house, kick up your heels and raise a glass.
Likewise, if you're ever up here in the Beautiful Pacific Northwest (have to say it that way by law), we must get together for a proper geek-out.
Cei-U!
I summon the solidarity!

No, no, I'm not going anywhere. I just got to thinking how much I enjoy talking with the people here for about the last 5 years.

I was flattered to be mentioned by name.

I'm proud to say you're one of those rare individuals whose friendship has extended beyond the online community. I'm glad to know you, Mac.
And I still say your avatar looks like Johnny Carson. :)

Gee, thanks, ROK! I'm honored to have made that list!
I'm very glad to know you and the other über-knowledgeable people of this board. I am still quite pleasantly surprised to find so much class around here; all the regular posters of the Classic comics forum are articulate, intelligent and very humorous people. Not something one expects to find in most internet communities!
Cheers,

It includes everyone here, I just couldn't recall everyone's name at the time.
If you don't see your name, it doesn't mean you weren't included in my thoughts.

yes -- yes, it does. that's exactly what it means.
i'm dead to you. dead. just because, as a native-born arkansan who grew up 35 miles or so from the texas border, i'm a sworn hater of (virtually) all things texan. *choke*
or maybe i'm just in a weird mood because i'm sitting here typing while the contents of the collectibles store i've managed (read: been pretty much the sole employee of) for nearly 2 years is being packed up for moving to georgia after being sold pretty much lock, stock & barrel yesterday.
job-hunting, perhaps especially for someone of my, uh, esoteric skill set, isn't particularly fun. *siiiigh*
(anyone know of any jobs out there tailor-made for quasi-experts on comics, coins, science fiction, book- & newspaper-editing, pop music [particularly punk, postpunk & new wave] journalism, horror, true crime, baseball, basketball, defunct sports leagues, philip k dick, hp lovecraft, the new left, post-depression u.s. history, radical politics, ufo's, the paranormal, movies [with an emphasis on '50s sf & zombie cinema], sports cards, anarchism & probably a bunch more crap that doesn't come to mind at the moment?
(nah, i didn't think so.)
sorry for the hijack. back to your regularly scheduled good thoughts ...

Thanks for the kind words, ROK. I'm glad you've enjoyed being a part of this community, and I feel honored to be part of it as well.
Dan, best of luck with your job search.

ROK, everyone on this board has been welcoming to this newbie, yourself especially. It's been great to join such a fine community. I'm pleased to have made your acquaintance.

This is indeed one terrific community of friendly people! I, too, consider the regulars here to be best friends, and don't dare ever pass through Huntsville Alabama without calling me for a meal and a guided tour through the Space and Rocket Center!

Now how could I forget the guy who solved all those Name That Ad games.
Don't tell me you've already blown all the prize money.:D

Red Oak... I stand on the shoulders of giants. You awe me. What a nice guy you seem.
As Sargeant Schultz has been known to say... "I know nothing!"
Ah yes, sometimes I feel like the Watcher... you know always keeping an eye on the wonderful CBR Classic Comics Universe, and not really wanting to interfere among the geniuses gathered, but nevertheless always sticking my big toe in anyway, and hoping it doesn't muck things up too much.
Really... you are all great... and I think the wrong Texan is in the White House.

And hear I was at my crap job, just the other day wondering how I could make a go at business specializing in that well know field of "comics, coins, science fiction, book- & newspaper-editing, pop music [particularly punk, postpunk & new wave] journalism, horror, true crime, baseball, basketball, defunct sports leagues, philip k dick, hp lovecraft, the new left, post-depression u.s. history, radical politics, ufo's, the paranormal, movies [with an emphasis on '50s sf & zombie cinema], sports cards, anarchism"

Yay! I'm on the list! I'm glad, because I'm not as much of a CBR veteran as some others here. And the people on this board are some of the nicest on the CBR boards.

Though it's not said on my profile I live in Texas too. I trust you people enough to tell you my carefully guarded secrets! :p
