Action with Jay Mohr

This show is an unsung gem. I loved watching it when it was on FX. I bought the DVD and watched it from start to finish. What made it even sweeter was that it was unedited and uncensored.

I dig Jay Mohr, and this show was perfect for him as the smarmy movie producer. The cameos were sweet, watching him get his butt handed to him by Selma Hayek and Sandra Bullock. Plus, Keanu getting an impromptu handjob from a prostitute, and that's just the first two episodes.

The third rule of producing:

"Explosions, boobs, explosions. It used to be boobs, explosions, boobs, but women have advanced so far these days." - Uncle Lonnie, played by the
hilarious Buddy Hackett.

Best show on tv for a long time...in the sense that despite it was canceled it was still better than most that was on See everyone loves raymond, friends, 2 and a half men, etc

I like how it didnt censor itself and made the network do it sort of. They didnt say crap, they just went out and said what they meant and it was bleeped

Interestingly one of the show's writers, Ron Zimmerman, had a controversial tenure at Marvel comics.

I loved Action.

The first episode was amazing for that scene where Jay Mohr ripped O.J. Simpson a new one. It's actually rare to see one celebrity tear into another one so viciously and publicly, plus it was really funny.

The humor in Action was as bold as you will ever see on network television, and it was also the only network show that had the balls to flip the finger to the NAACP for their threatened boycott if the networks didn't add minority characters to all their shows. I am all in favor of diversity, but that heavy-handed tactic deserved mockery, not capitulation.

Even the way Action ended was impressive. They cut the end short in a shocking manner, followed by one final sick joke as the ambulance attendants loot the body.
