Hey gents, I don't normally mention my shows as it's own topic of conversation, but I thought you guys might like to check this one out.

Collected Comics Library Podcast #73 (http://media.libsyn.com/media/chrisccl/73_CCL_2006-06-14.mp3)

A much shorter show this week. I now have the exact date and time of the Comic Podcast Panel at the San Diego Comic Con and I also tell you who else will be on the panel with me.
The feature this week is Jules Feiffer's The Great Comic Book Heroes. If you're interested in comic book history, you'll really want this book on your shelf.
I do have a giveaway contest for this week, but you have to listen to find out how to enter.

I also can't recommend this book enough. It is a great story about both the early days of the comic industry and what it was like to be a fan in the 1940’s.

But I do have one caveat.

If you can, spend the money and get yourself one of the original editions of this book from before they took out all of the comics.

The Fantagraphics edition is really nice and the essay from Feffier is excellent, but the 100+ pages of classic comic stories in the original and second printings are just a gold mine of the adventures of the Great Comicbook Heroes themselves and really the book is just not complete without them.

What rick said. Words cannot express the bitter disappointment I felt when I first saw the new edition and realized the comics reprints were gone. Been trying to replace mine -- my REAL one, the ORIGINAL one -- for years. Unfortunately, the word's out on it and every time I see one around it's priced out of my range.
