Hey guys. I'm going to Neighborhood Playhouse (http://www.the-neiplay.org/) school of TEH THEATOR here in September. I'm pretty psyched and a little intimidated.

Which means I'll be all up in Mignola/Del Toror/Comic Book/Anime/Video Game and general nerd type events going down in NY, hopefully. So I'll see you nerds there. Let's do lunch, and so on. Also any advice about NY, if any of you all happen to reside there.

And if anyone ever needs a skinny, pale dude to get eaten by a monster in a movie, then perhaps one day I can provide that service.

My advice (however uninformed it may be), is to stay away from Central Park at night. :p (kidding!)

Glad to hear the news. Be safe in your move and enjoy yourself.

Welcome to the City! I've been here six years and can honestly say now, this is home. Let me know if I can help answer any questions (and direct you to the comic shops).

Bet GdT has just the part for you in Hellboy2.
Great News! Takes a brave person to study to be an actor.
Good luck in The Big Apple.

New York, New York. The town so nice they named it twice.
And no matter what the fella says, DO NOT
buy that bridge. (Otto66-learned that lesson the hard way)

Hey, belated thanks Otto.

I've been in the city a few days, crashing with friends in Brooklyn. Anyone know good shops? Not sure where I'm going to be staying yet, but ones in Manhattan would probably be cool as that's where the school is.

The place is pretty overwhelming, but the folks have been a lot more pleasent than the media would have you think. It's like sterotypes of people from the south or midwest (where I'm from) I guess. Yeah, there's crappy people everywhere, but it's not like you're forced to deal with them every day. The thing my mind is adjusting to is that I'm essentialy living in Blade Runner: I've been in cities, but not ones where the skyscrappers essentialy go on forever in any one direction. Getting used to it, though.

So all I need is some Del Toro or Mignola type events around here, that would be sweet. I'm also thinking that since living expenses are so high, that means comics cost effectively less here, right? So, why not buy more really?

Hey el seth...you're only two and a half hours away from me ! A good comic shop in the city is Midtown Comics...there's a big one located right on Times Square ! I havent been in the building as of yet (I'm near Albany, and not in NYC often), but I go to their web site weekly to see what's new new for the week...they come highly recommended ! Enjoy the Big Apple !

Hey, I'll ckeck that out maybe even tommorow! Grazzi! How big are these stores? Do they do pulls and all that nonsense? Are they less personal than local places? I'm guessing yes, but I can deal with that.

They do a huge mail order subscription, so I'm sure they do weekly pulls as well, and I have never heard anyone comment negatively on the store...let me know what your experience is like.

" Humming...'I'm gonna live forever, I'm gonna learn how to fly...HIGH ! FAME !...'".

Dammit, now THAT one is stuck in my head, too ! Thanks for that , Otto !

Just got back from spending 10 days there. I think I would like to move there myself, one day.

Have fun and best of luck in your new town!

Im moving there soon as well to become a police officer. My family lives there so i would just say to take it all in. Theres always something going on. And theres alot of plays im sure you can try out for. And im a regular at Midtown as well and there very good. I wouldnt say you even need a pull list because they always have plenty to go around.

Hey, check out St. Marks Comics on St. Marks in the Village. Haven't been in a few years, but it should still be there. Also, check out Rocketship comics in Brooklyn...http://rocketshipstore.blogspot.com
