The Complete Peanuts - translations

A portuguese publisher has released a translated edition of The Complete Peanuts and the price is roughly 20% cheaper.
I have a good understanding of english and now I don't know which version should I get.

Should I buy the portuguese edition and support this huge task or should I get the original, untranslated edition for complete fidelity to the original material?

If supporting the project wasn't a consideration, and assuming you can afford the extra 20%, I would go for the English edition. I think that if you can read a work in the original, you might as well, since the original is inevitably superior to the translation. Also, reading stuff in the original language is a good way to improve your command of that language.

I guess you have to decide which is more important to you-- supporting the Portuguese translation project, or reading the books in the original. I would think that the Portuguese edition is meant for readers who aren't able to understand the original; Also, the project isn't going to fail just because you didn't buy the Portuguese editions. But it's up to you.
