Read Title. Personally I like the channels line up like thier video game mash up (though they need to make new episodes for Cheat! ). I find X play very humerous at times and their reviews. many of my friends complian how Adam and Morgan bash their favorite game, but i tell them that they are just brutally honest. It is the same reason why Simon Cowell keep on getting bad feedback from the audience. I like how they have small segments like the G spot. I always watch Attack of the Show because there is no other show like it. Instead of talking about polictical junk they put in internet videos, interveiws with fan fiction movie legends(I'm looking at you Ian McKellen), debate on E3 and gaming becoming a spectator sport, Comic reviews, and other important stufflike that. Please post your opinions here and give reasons why. Oh and this thread has been done before, Please delete.:)

Attack of the Show and Electric Playground ain't bad. Xplay is always fun, as is Cinematech. And GameMakers(The Show Formerly Known as Icons) is, as always, the best thing G4 ever did. Past shows I liked were Judgement Day, Arena, and Pulse. Cheat, I actually liked better before they put Kirsten on.
Frankly, the rest of G4 can go to HFIL as far as I'm concerned.

X-Play is always fun. I'm not a big gamer, but I really like their reviews because they are both honest and entertaining. Plus, Morgan...smart, funny, and hot as hell. Attack of the Show is usually pretty good, but sometimes they get so caught up in what they're talking about they seem to forget they're on tv. I would watch this more often, but it's not at a convienent time for me...I usually see it once a week or so, and that's usually a re-run either at night or on the weekends. Plus, it seems like they change something major every few months...hosts, sets, name of the show, etc. Anyway, I really like those two, plus GameMakers/Icons. I don't watch much of the other original stuff though. Arena was pretty cool, but since I didn't know most of the games they would play I didn't watch it much. EP and Judgement Day were good too, but again I rarely saw them. I'm not a fan of anime, so I don't watch their new late-night animation block.
I do watch Star Trek: TNG fairly often, but I don't really understand the point of this new Star Trek 2.0. They somehow managed to get more stuff on the screen than Headline News, and it's all about a 40-year old fictional tv program. Personally, I don't see the point in all that stuff, but I can see how some people would like it.

I dig X-Play. Adam and Morgan are both pretty cool and I rarely see an episode that doesn't make me laugh at least once. It doesn't hurt that their reviews are pretty spot-on. It's just a good show, as much as a show about videogames can be. I don't watch much tv, but this one I do try to catch as often as possible.
Plus, the dude that plays Roger "The Stan Lee" Experience/Drunk Link cracks me up every time I see him. Ditto The Screaming Intern.
Icons is a pretty cool show in it's own right. It's a trip when they go back and do an 80's/90's show and cover stuff that I would have known if I'd had the internet at the time. I like the behind-the-scenes aspect, especially if it's about a game or console I played.
Attack of the Show is what I usually fall asleep watching late at night. It a good show for what it is...but I don't like Kevin Pereira (sp?). He comes across as a cocky nerd/smartass hybrid and sometimes I wish I could punch him in the face.
Cheat is a waste of perfectly good airtime and the show suffers because Kristen Holt obviously is just reading her lines while hating her job.
She's pretty hot, but she needs a new job pronto 'cuz I don't think this gig is getting her anywhere.

I liked Attack of the Show in it's early (post-"Screen Savers") period. I never liked Kevin very much, and I miss Kevin Rose and Sarah Lane. Blair Butler does a decent job on the comics beat, however.

I'm still ticked at them for cannabalizing and then destroying everything about TechTV, except for XPlay. I liked Screen Savers and Call for Help.

I used to have G4 on all day long on my days off from work. It was good background noise and sometimes I'd stop and watch something if it sounded interesting. I'd always try to catch as many episodes of X-play as I could just because Morgan is so amazinly hot.
However, since they started bringing over things like Fastlane and Star Trek I've stopped watching. Mainly because I used to watch X-Play at 7 and now ST is on instead. I could give a care less about ST. But Morgan...
And I agree about Kristen Holt. I'm sure they belted Cory Whatshisname for her to get a little ratings boost because of a hot chick. But I don't buy into her as a video game host.

I agree about Kristen Holt...just another reality show cast-off getting hired for looks and name. They also have a former Real World-er on EP now...can't remember her name, but she is actually decent at her job. They still air Call For Help from time to time, I think early in the mornings. I rarely see it, so it could be old episodes, I'm not sure. If it is old episodes, they should really stop because at the rate technology advances it's not worth it to keep showing these reruns.
I second the Sarah Lane comment...she was really good and I think AOTS suffers now that she's not there. Kevin is annoying to me sometimes, but I can usually put up with him. The DVD segments are usually ok, but they could be so much better if they allowed more time for it.

G4 seems to be morphing into Spike. Are they owned by the same company?
How is The Man Show about gaming? Or Star Trek: TNG???
Jared
06-17-2006, 10:36 AM
At least I can see the reasoning behind putting TNG on G4, more so than freakin' Fastlane or The Man Show.
Anyone see the X-Play Breakfast Club parody episode? I loved that. I don't know what show Kristen Holt was on before, but they really should ditch her. I don't buy that she's played a single game that she talks about.

If they have to show Star Trek shows why can't they show DS9? I hate Next Gen. They definetly need to mix things up a little now and then, and quite playing Star Trek 6 hours a day. Even totaly Trek nerds have to eb getting sick of that by now. I do like X-Play, Attack of the Show, and Icons. The new show with Sterns gf doesn't look that bad. I wish they would bring bakc Electric Playground and Versus though.
On a personal not about Kristen Holt. Am I the only one who thinks she looks like the freakin Joker with that weird ass smile of hers? I mean seriously she looks odd with that giant grin on her face.

Once there was a channel for good, Techtv. You could just put it on taht channel and be done for the day. No flipping necessary
Then g4 came and destroyed its soul. g4 had a much lesser soul, but there was something.
Now G4 is largely souless and vile. Save for X-play
All of Techtv stuff is basically gone
Now they are just trying to make Spike tv mach 2

Since I'm a night owl I catch that Action Blast show that has Beast Wars and that way funky Kaiju westling. I love that baked potatoe guy that has the tin foil suit.
I do hate almost all the other shows, mainly due to the fact these people get paid to play video games and act like spoiled little kids. That Morgan Web looks like a man and That creppy Adam guy should not be allowed around children.:p

When I found G4 and it was great. Except it ran on a loop, and reruns were always on.
It started to get old. Then they merged it with the awesome Techtv.
As soon as the Techtv show whos name i'm forgeting, had the color commentary host who did nothing but talk shit about macs, I quit.
Yes, I use a mac. I don't hate pc's I just prefer a mac.
This guy HATED macs, and did nothing but trash on macs all day while the other guy tried to say something useful over him.
Eventually I got rid of cable. Now I never watch tv and am much happier for it.

I had never heard of either G4 or TechTV until I moved and the new cable provider carried it...and this was just after the merger, so I never saw either of them before they became one. I thought it was always G4TechTV, and I liked it, then it did go down a bit after they phased out most of the tech stuff. I still watch it though.
Yes, I use a mac. I don't hate pc's I just prefer a mac.
I know what you mean...I use a Mac at work and I love it. I don't think I'll ever turn my back on PC, but I am open and able to use Macs now, and every time I see someone on G4 trashing the Mac I can't help but think he's never really used one. Or he was trying to use it like a PC, which is virtually impossible and would defeat the purpose of having different computer types. But this is getting into a whole different debate that probably doesn't belong here, so I'll shut up now.

G4 is yet another channel that has lost it's focus and gone to hell. They've realized that there just aren't enough gamers to make them money, just like TechTV and ZDTV before them learned there aren't enough geeks. I figure the station will change names again soon and aim toward urban wannabe couch potatoes, that seems to be where they're headed.

I personally only see Xplay surviving from both g4 and tech tv with any longevity
But thats really fine by me. Its unquestionably the best show. And one of the best comedic shows on tv
There was a phrase invented on love line for hot chicks
It was Waffle crapper
It meant the chick was so hot she could crap on your waffles and you wouldnt care.
Morgan Webb can crap on not only my waffles, but my cinnamon rolls as well.

Olivia is really pretty. Morgan Webb is hot. Subtle differences, all based on personal tastes, but that's how I see the two of them.
I still miss Sarah Lane though...while Olivia is definately finding her groove as a host after a little bit of a rocky start, she's still not as good as Sarah was. As mentioned on this thread before, Kevin P. can get a little annoying sometimes...Sarah had a way of making Kevin not seem so annoying, but now that Olivia's there, Kevin seems to be taking on more of a lead-host role instead of co-host like he was with Sarah. I never really had a problem with Kevin or noticed how odd he was until Sarah left a few months ago...not a knock on Olivia, but major compliment to Sarah. But I guess I shouldn't say too much since both Kevin and Olivia are my friends on MySpace, and we all know how serious MySpace is to be taken. Anyway, this new British girl that's been on lately has some work to do.
That's my couple pennies on the AOTS hosts.

I guess I would like it if it were more like techtv. I like the gaming stuff but how about more tech. Not just cell phones either. They took a good network and changed it into "skaterboy diarys". I watch AOTS for Three and a half days a week. I don't want to her the crap they have for live music. The only reason I tune in on Thursdays is Fresh Ink. Personally I want Screen Savers and Call for Help back. X-play is really the only redeeming show.
Correction: Ed the Socks night party is pretty cool.

Forget TechTV, go back to how it was as ZDTV, back when it was a station that didn't treat everyone like idiots and didn't talk down to the audience. It expected a certain degree of sophistication; people who cannot find the on switch on their computer need not apply.
Back in the days when Kate and Leo were doing Screensavers, those were the days that we had ZDTV on 24/7. Now, even my 9-year old video-game-fanatic daughter can't stand more than X-Play and the occasional Cheat rerun.

Cheat! is an utterly useless show. Unless you don't have the internet at all, you can find more complete tips and codes more quickly for any game you want them for, rather than sitting through an episode.

Cheat is useless because unless you can write very fast or tape the show, you'll have to go online to get the codes anyhow.
G4 has pretty much turned into SpikeTV junior and abandoned any pretense of being a geek/techie/gaming channel.

It's $65 for the 4-day pass at the door, since it's too late to pre-register. The one-day pass isn't obviously listed in the latest update but I would assume around $20-25.
