You would be surprised as how quick people in the US and UK buy the issue and upload it to the net. I usually read the comics the same day they're released, especially when is a big thing like Civil War.

And I agree, Marvel is awesome right now. I'm reading the Spider titles again and they're soooo good with this whole Civil War thing.

Same here. I started Essential X-Men at #90 which was just before the 'Twelve' saga. At the same time I was reading the CC, Morrison and Austen trades. I think I read Essential until about #110 when they'd caught up to where I was in trades.

Then i read trades until i caught up with issues.

The rest is history.

What a long weekend.

Left work early Friday to pack and buy groceries for this weekend's troop camping trip. Not really camping, but staying in the dorms at the Delaware Air National Guard base in Bethany Beach. We had over thirty participants, including a few families, so that was different. We got to the base around 8:30 PM Friday night. Two other adults and I drove over to Rehoboth to see one of their son's bands play. Anyway, Saturday morning the kids did a service project on the base before we headed to the beach. It was a great beach day. Not too hot, and the water was chilly but had some great waves. I unfortunately had to come home on Saturday afternoon, leaving the troop there, as I had my grandmother's 80th birthday party to go to. So I made it home in time to shower, get dressed, and make it to the restaurant. It's great getting to see all of my cousins. I was supposed to meet a couple of them at the Italian Festival afterward, but when I walked down there it was like a mob scene. Too many people and not volatile for me. So I walked down to the bars at Trolley Square instead where I met up with my friend Matt, among others. I also ran into an old high school friend so we hung out. A bunch of us headed to a party afterward but it had already ended so we just went home.

Yesterday was HOT. Woke up and went over this girl's house for a cook-out then walked down to the Festival (yesterday was closing day). I was tired so went home and napped and watched Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead on HBO...lol. Then went back to the Festival to get dinner and some free gellato. Then back home to draw my DMAX-Jam entry and watched Entourage with my roommates and Beth. then went to bed.

Next weekend is the big DMB and O.A.R. concert in Hershey Park. We're camping there, though it looks like rain. Who cares. I'll have beer and liquor to keep me dry.

Hey Drew! Yeah, I had a good weekend too! Friday night I went to a deck party and had a lot of fun. Saturday, I hung out with an old friend of mine. We discovered comics together back as kids, and we had a total nerd fest on Saturday. We talked comics, sci-fi, fantasy books etc. I had a blast. Sunday was baseball, plus, earlier in the day, I showed a bunch of international military attaches around the town. They were here for some conference. In my group, I had dignitaries from Australia, Norway, the US, Argentina, Spain, Kenya, Malaysia and France. Fun times.

I too get annoyed by the lazy use of grammar and spelling. It's one thing to have a misspelled word because of a typo, or the odd case of faulty grammar, but it's pathetic what many of these posters consider english. Sometimes I can't understand a post because of spelling and grammar. I find that more and more often, I am just skipping a post if the spelling and grammar is too bad. Don't want to take the time to write properly? Fine, you just lost someone who was willing to hear your point of view.

The other thing that bugs me is when people always use acronyms when listing a title. A lot of them are fine when they are obvious. When posting in a thread about Crisis, COIE is obviously Crisis On Infinite Earths. On the X-Boards NEX, UXM, AXM etc are all obvious. LOSH is fairly recognizable as Legion of Super Heroes. What irritates me, however is when people use acronyms that aren't obvious. For example, I was looking at a thread about Silver Age DC vs. Modern DC, and some tool wrote something like "Yeah, I think my point is really hammered home in DM, WOR, RK and LUJ." What the fuck does that mean? Don't assume everyone knows what these acronyms are! Fuck, that pisses me off!

Yeah, I used to point it out but people got really pissy with me so I gave up. It drives me nuts though. What really irritates me too, are those people who consistently spell something obvious wrong. It makes my blood boil to see Rouge instead of Rogue, and a certain poster who shall remain nameless is alway shurgging instead of shrugging (it wouldn't be so annoying if he only shurged once in awhile, but he does it in almost every post!)
