This one isn't photo manipulation. It's actually HER page! She's actually posing as Dazz! (Of course, they've added lighting effects and such, but still, it's Tiff purposely playing Ali.)

I'm 31! and i don't mind. I am old enough to know better now.
See, I'm conflicted. Part of me really misses being 22. I loved being young and beautiful. I loved being at University and not having to hold down a job. I could be carefree and wild and I was too young to think of the consequences. I loved feeling invincible. I loved the incredible highs one gets from being an emotional youth. I loved how intense my feelings for my friends were. The kind of intensity you can only have when you are over 13 and under 25.
On the other hand. I also enjoy being older. I like the maturity that has come with age. I like being settled down with a man I love instead of having lots of meaningless sex. I love having enough money to do whatever I want because I have a good job, instead of being a starving student. I like the mature friendships I have now, which may not be accompanied by the intense feelings and emotions of my youthful ones, but are actually much deeper and stronger.
And really, 30 or 31 (or even 37 Cay) is not really that old. We live to be between 75 and 80 on average these days. We haven't even reached the halfway point yet!

Yeah, I AM tall. The funny thing is my brother is only like 5'10" and my dad was about the same. My dad's whole family is short. On my mother's size, they are all about average height. My mother thinks I' a throwback to her great grandfather who was apparently 6'6"

Yeah, I am actually healthier now than I have been in years. I don't abuse my body with drugs and alcohol anymore so that helps! The 20's were full of turmoil but I kinda thrived on it. I was completely out at that point and revelling in it after lying to myself for my first 16 years or so. On the other hand, there was a lot of bad stuff that happened in my 20's too. I kinda gloss over those parts when I think about the glory days tho. :)

I am so close to dropping New X-Men. I feel so betrayed by what they have done to the characters. All the time and effort put into the first 3 years of the title was completely destroyed in 6 less than a year. Those new writers piss me off soooo much!

Honestly? I can't even remember what was discussed. I remember some talk about saddest episodes of Buffy, Angel and Serentiy. There was the ususal gay, sex & gaysex talks. We just had a talk about age and our feelings on being in our 20's versus now being in our 30's.

I'd be pissed if it were bad, but I thinhk it's pretty well done. I would only pick NXM up once in a while and would only skim sometimes. Now I'm pretty riveted. It sux for Laurie and the bus of extras, but I'm definitely more excited about it than ever.

I don't see ANY humour in New X-Men. Just grisly deaths of minors. Honestly, I wonder where Marvel & DC's love of killing teenagers comes from? Marvel killed Cypher, Rusty Collins, Illyana, Tag, Wallflower, Icarus, Hornet, Bedlam, Synch, Skin, and many others. DC killed Superboy, Wildebeest, Danny Chase, Pre-Crisis Supergirl, Spoiler, all of Infinity Inc, and a bunch of others too. I think it's kind of sick to be constantly slaughtering children!

It's part of the whole "The Good Die Young" thing that makes comics exciting. If you're a grown-up superhero who's been saving the world for decades, you're pretty safe. But if you're a young upstart who's still getting their act together- you better watch out 'cause unless you can somehow become an A-Lister with a big fan base, your days could be numbered. I feel like the recent gauntlet the NXM kids just lived through is the challenge that will cement many of them in the Marvel Universe the way the original New Mutants were cemented. Before this, I could have easily seen many of them shunted off into limbo. Now, I can see them being around for a while.
I wonder if it all comes back to these stories being "cautionary tales" for children. Like the grusome old fairy tales where terrible shit would happen to kids..

I think it's more like a slasher flick. Especially Superboy. Just like in the old Friday the 13th movies. Superboy and Wonder Girl have sex for the first time, and he immediately goes off and gets killed. Cassie better watch herself! The non-virgin never survives!

Ah, I don't follow DC stuff. That's pretty grim, and quite cliche, really. It's hard enough for comic geeks to get laid as it is! Why is DC sending out the message that having sex will kill you? Doesn't DC want its readers to start going out and making new little readers?

Honestly? I respect your opinion, Gav, I see where you're coming from, but I think it's going to have the opposite effect. One death is one thing- it shocks readers and makes them more attached to the characters they have left. But the wholesale slaughter of half your book's cast is not going to make people remember the remaining ones better; on the contrary, it's going to turn them off to the book itself (as indeed seems to be the case, judging by fan buzz on NX:AX), as well as make them think, "Well, these guys are all getting killed off, no point getting attached to them." I liked the cast of New Mutants/NX:AX, but combine the elimination of half of them with six months of action-heavy, characterization-light stories and I find myself just not caring about any of them anymore. I doubt I'm going to continue reading, and I find that I really don't care if the remaining characters survive and appear again or not. I'm about ready for them to clear the decks, wait a couple of years, and then bring in the next class of Xavier students.

I guess I'm in the opposite camp. The old main cast never actually did much to thrill me. From day one I felt they were bland and was surprised they lasted as long as they did. Not to say they weren't developed nicely, but seriously. Wind Dancer? Uhh. Huh?? Sorry, I just nodded off a little as I typed her name.. :p
I think shifting the focus to characters who actually have exciting, visual components and action-based powers is the only way this book was going to survive.
Killing off so many of the background cast was a risky move. But I'm looking forward to reading about how the remaining kids deal with it. It will give them a reason to develop into bold, exciting characters, rather than just a bunch of kids who ended up at Xavier's.
And yeah, I'll miss some of them. I'll admit to having a soft spot for Laurie. But that's part of the realism in their new world. Missing your former happier, simpler life. Missing friends who were taken from you too soon. Being really fucking scared of those who fear and hate you. Those are big, realistic feelings that most definitely belong in a comicbook about mutant kids.

Which was exactly my reaction with the new cast. Rockslide? Ooh he's really big and strong and tough and zzz...zzz... It's just the usual bunch of punch and shoot guys that were in every 90s Image team book. I knew they were going to give Elixir some type of offensive power, because hey, if you can't punch or shoot somebody, you are cannon fodder in these "realistic" settings. I've always been more interested in the less direct powers: Dani, Doug, Jamie, Warren etc.
And the dumbing down of characters to move the plot forwards annoys me. That's problably my biggest annoyance in comics: make characters do stupid things, because the writer couldn't spend 5 minutes rereading his script and go "why does he/she do that?"
Killing off so many of the background cast was a risky move. But I'm looking forward to reading about how the remaining kids deal with it. It will give them a reason to develop into bold, exciting characters, rather than just a bunch of kids who ended up at Xavier's.
They passed that point way back. One death or a few deaths affect others. You learn more about the character they now miss, how they related to them and so on. At this point the kids should be traumatized for the rest of their lives and given the chance *RUNNING* from Xavier's. If they kill of Laurie: fine, (though I like her, even with the Purple Girl duplication) it's going to affect Kevin and Josh and by extension the rest of the team. If they kill Sophia: fine, (again I like her, especially because she didn't have the emotional baggage which seems to be required for a comic book character post 1970), it's going to affect Julian, Surge and Jay. Killing Spectre or Quill is not going to affect any of the main characters, because they never really interacted with them before.
And again I disagree: I don't find the new direction realistic at all. Sensationalism is more like it.

And again I disagree: I don't find the new direction realistic at all. Sensationalism is more like it.
I love you Dizzy! Between you and Drew, I don't even need to argue this point anymore! You guys are saying exactly what I'm thinking!

The best thing they could do for New X-Men is make it into a Legion type book. Have the rotating cast with a few core characters they will always have spots with and just how off the remaining characters. It would make so much more sence then having all these great characters with so much potential and just killing them off.
Good afternoon everyone.

This is only the best waking up song ever:
You could never know what it's like
Your blood like winter freezes just like ice
And there's a cold lonely light that shines from you
You'll wind up like the wreck you hide behind that mask you use
And did you think this fool could never win
Well look at me, I'm coming back again
I got a taste of love in a simple way
And if you need to know while I'm still standing you just fade away
Don't you know I'm still standing better than I ever did
Looking like a true survivor, feeling like a little kid
I'm still standing after all this time
Picking up the pieces of my life without you on my mind
I'm still standing yeah yeah yeah
I'm still standing yeah yeah yeah
Once I never could hope to win
You starting down the road leaving me again
The threats you made were meant to cut me down
And if our love was just a circus you'd be a clown by now
Im sorry. As you are a gay male the only 2 songs i can accept as your favorites are "I will survive" and "Don't Leave Me This Way "

Mmmm Anne Hathaway. The best thing about her, other than the fact she looks somewhat like a girl i went to high school with, is when she shows the goods in movies.
Some reason i doubt the Devil Wearing Prada will take advantage of that talent.

As for New X-men. Im of two minds. I think the former concept was stronger, but at the same time the currect stuff is better than most x-books are right now. Thats why im pushing for Brubaker to get shitcanned and C and C take over on Uncanny and N and C go back to New X-men.

So I totally just saw X3 for a third time with my best friend. My friend, she's not at all a comic book person, but she's hooked on the Bobby/Rogue relationship, so I've gotten her weened on all the X-Men films lol. But anyways, I got to say, this film gets funnier and funnier with each time. We just sat there the whole time talking and laughing about each scene.
We rolled our eyes everytime friggin Halle Berry came onscreen. Even if she wasn't on, we'd be like, "I bet she's standing over on the side. The camera will zoom on her face as Jean makes love to Logan." Such a scene-stealing bitch.
We cringed everytime Kitty Pryde shared a moment with Bobby, holding out hands in a strangling position. "He loves Rogue, bitch! Oh, and your hair sucks!"
We awwwwed like little schoolgirls for the 3 times Bobby and Rogue shared a moment, reminding ourselves that the director cut out their kissing scene at the end.
We admired Scott Summers' jeans at Alkalaine Lake, again. His jeans are really stylish. I really want a pair actually. Scott has a great fashion sense.
And we laughed everytime someone said a horribly corny/bad one-liner. Which was about every 5 minutes.
Ahhhh, X3. Loves it the most. :D

I love that song, mainly cause my momma loves those songs from the 70's, but anyhoo. Disco shouldn't just be a gay man treat, cause in fact, a lot of "disco" songs, we're just r&b songs, with dance tracks. It's almost the same thing with a lot of r&b and hip hop songs now. Like my all time favorite mc lite song, cold body rocks the party which samples the Upside down beat by Diana Ross--Ms. Ross, the boss(which I also love this song too, even though it came out when I was like 3)

Yeah, we got them, but apparently only really in the last 20 years, but as London is is a large city it is probably not easy for them to survive in.

And there is the song "Apart" by fab synth pop band Dangerous Muse
Long distance never works.
You're making a mistake.
Cut your losses and say goodbye,
remove the stake.
They don't know our love.
Have they even tried
to risk, to fail, to right
the ends that come untied?
They don't feel how we do
and we can't change our hearts
for theirs, though times we want to.
They don't think like we do
and we can't change their minds,
though times, again we try to.
We are two minds too far apart,
held hostage by our hearts.
We are two minds too far apart,
held hostage by our hearts.
Long distance never works.
You're making a mistake.
So say goodbye.
No.
They don't know our love.
They don't care enough to try --
to fix what they untie.
They don't feel how we do
and we can't change our hearts
for theirs, though times we want to.
They don't think like we do
and we can't change their minds,
though times, again we try to.
We are two minds too far apart,
held hostage by our hearts.
We are two minds too far apart,
held hostage by our hearts.
We are two minds, two minds ...
We are two minds, two minds ...
We are two minds ... I love you --
I'll see you in my dreams.
If Dangerous Muse can make a long-distance relationship work, so can you!

I'm trying to find Dazzler's Myspace profile--the one with Tiffany posing as Dazzler and George's Nagel-esque Dazzler drawing.
hmm... Nope. Can't find it. I know it's real. I've seen it.
She's one of my MySpace top 12. And I'm #2 in hers. ;)

I hated that show...
Dean Cain had such a shit eating grin and i STILL get the feeling that Teri Hatcher prowls the midnight streets devouring the first born sons of innocent families.
Teri was so hot in that show id probably still pop a redwood
But taht reminds me. There was one episode where i guess lois and someone else were captured and superman "couldnt save them both:" because they were soi far apart
and he used some device to split up his heat vision or whatever and did so.
SPiderman had a similiar thing in his movie
Question...has there ever been an instance where a superhuman was showboating or reaching to far and ended up losing both? Cuz there should be. Id totally write taht scene. Aunt may and Mj are thrown off a building and spidey tries to get them both and ooops
splat

Oh baby, my heart is full of love and desire for you, so come on and do whatcha gotta do.
Ross, the boss(which I also love this song too, even though it came out when I was like 3)
I remember Dont leave me this way mostly because it was on the trailer, i think, of the criminally underrated summer of sam. Good movie that.
Personally im not a huge fan of most current rap. I kicks it old school mostly. New rap seems to be just about rims and "ho"s shakin that ass. Its almost a parody of rap these days. Gimme some shelltops with no laces over 20 inch rims
I blame Puff daddy.
