Well, he hits his wife and he tried to destroy the Avengers recently.

Cay
Yeah, in 1983!!!! Plus they spent years redeeming him! Then all these posters are like "I can't ever forgive him cuz he beat Jan!" Umm, ok

1. In the regular Marvel U, he open hand slapped her ONCE!! Not a good thing, no, but nothing like the serious beating that happened in the Ultimate U

2. Iron Man went nuts and killed 3 Avengers and tried to kill the rest, including almost KILLING Jan, but the fanboys think that's ok I guess.

3. Quicksilver betrayed the Avengers in the late 80's and tried to kill them several times, but as soon as he regained his sanity they all welcomed him back

It's just so stupid! Fucken Chuck Austen and his hack talents. He comes on board the Avengers and suddenly Hank's teammates are making snide comments about him being a wife beater (and they haven't even mentioned it for, like, 15 fucken years!) and Jan is all, "Oooh, ooh I can't be with you Hank cuz I don't trust you, even though a scant 3 or so issues earlier, he was spelunking in her nether regions courtesy of Geoff Johns! Then typically Bendis runs with Austen's horrible idea over in Avengers Dissassembled and to add insult to injury, Joe Casey writes Earth's Mightiest Heroes which suggests Hank has been abusive since day one! It makes my blood boil!

It's true. It sounds like zealotry when anyone says it, but it's so true.

What non-Claremontians don't realize is that: A) They have to read at least a large portion of his original run in order to really appreciate it, and B) we don't expect them to like his current work. That part is still up for debate.

Yeah, I figured that out.

Sadly Jay Pinkerton (for those who didn't get it, when I mentioned it before, he's the writer of that piece, not me) has changed his site recently and the comics themselves are gone. Sad, because there were some damn good ones:

Hey, it's cool to have differing opinion, and like d_s said, you don't have to be a zealot about him... but yeah, I never get when people like the X-Men but say they don't like Claremont. Everything that the X-Men are is him; his writing IS the X-Men. It's hard to see how one can exist without the other.

I agree! I adore Cable & Deadpool! His Thunderbolts thrills me! Plus I recently re-read my New Warriors and his run on the title was top notch. He really gets it. He gets what Marvel is SUPPOSED to be about. He is like Dan Slott in that regard. He knows what Marvel is and isn't ashamed of it and doesn't feel he needs to throw in the self mocking that other "cool" writers seem to feel the need to do. it's almost like Bendis and others are secretly ashamed of being comic book writers!

Yeah, Young Justice was a great book! I preferred it to depressing Teen Titans. Peter David seems to understand teenagers more than Johns does. Plus I loved his Superboy (who was alive!). Plus I enjoyed Lil Lobo and Empress and Secret! I liked Arrowette more than Speedy, and Wonder Girl and Robin were more interesting back then. Johns gives us depressing and badly written "Insiders", and David gives us the hilarious and interesting "Sins of Youth". There really is no choice!

I didn't read HoM so take this with a massive grain of salt, but wasn't she a random plot device brought in with no explanation to resolve a problem in the plot, but serving no other purpose for existing? (Until X-Factor, that is.) Sounds like God in the Machine to me. But again, didn't read it, so I don't know, just speculating.

Ok, I guess for HoM she was.

I LOVED Bionic Six!

Bionic, Bionic Six!
Ohh ohh ohhh ohhh ohh
They fight together
They fight for right!
And they're so very proud to be,
A super future family,
BIONIC SIX!

I had a couple of the toys too. I had the girl with the bionic legs and thebig gorilla. Fun times! On a related note, I just read that the guys who put He-Man on DVD are releasing the entire run of the Blackstar cartoon this summer! Yay!!!!!!

It was a good show huh?

I like Bravestar too. And Visionaries, but that lasted like 13 episodes. :(

I'm still drying to find an import (or download) of the Japanese Transformers series. They apparently are both very good and absolutely insane.

I saw a Japanese-style animated movie when I was little (several times even, german TV repeated it every so often), but I can't remember the name.
It's about a spaceship crashlanding on a planet. Only a boy survives. A group of heroes (guy, girl, old guy and some small creatures) are sent to rescue him. In the end, the old guy dies and the group fails to rescue the boy. The boy is attacked by giant wasps and wounded, but saved by another astronaut and this where it gets weird: during the funeral the small creatures discuss that the old guy is a "Lord of Time" or "TImeless One" or something like that and that he doesn't live his life lineary. As the wounded boy is carried into the shuttle, you see that he has the exact same scar now on his head (from the giant wasp attack) that the old man had. Awesome movie, totally blew me 8-year old mind. Never saw it again. Would probably suck if I saw it now though.

As nice as you all are, I don't think you get it.

Sometimes girls have a day where they try on every outfit they own, do their hair and look at themselves and say "I look awful"

then they take a shower again and try on all their outfits mixed up and do their hair and make up and get really crabby to the point where they are stomping around like children, jumping up and down whining and crying at the same time..... and then just stay in for the night because they are in such a bad mood.

I hate that part about women. I had a nice dinner and thing planned one night and Kay decides she can't find anything she wants to wear. She says she doesn't look pretty tonight and a bunch of stuff that just went in one ear and out the other. I told her the samething Jake V just said and it caused a big fight. Y'know, when people refer to me in X-cres, I'm totally OK with just calling me Jake. The V is just my last initial. It's not meant to be some clever screen name.

Aw, I had hoped this meant you was one of the five famous acrobats/wrestlers known as the five Jakes.

I need a girl here.

Thats how I am right now, but the only difference is I don't have the luxury of trying on clothes OR showering before this happy hour.
Whether you go or not, throw away those fucking clothes. You don't need shit that makes you feel like this.

Yeah. I don't have that much emnity toward Chris Claremont himself, but rather his craaaazy(!) fans that do little but finger-point. I also think it sucks that he got dismissed, but then again, I also think he -- like Byrne -- have a tendency to romanticize things in their favor. We all do. So I try to strike it in the middle.

I can't remember who said it, I think it may have been Neolucifer (where is he? He's disappeard. I liked him), but they said that CC would hate Fishtaco if they ever met.
