RSS Feeds Should Be Good

It may just be me not understanding the intricacies of RSS or having the wrong software (I'm using Firefox's Sage) on my crappy computer, but isn't one hundred entries a bit big?

I could be wrong, but I think mosts RSS readers let you choose how many entries to show.

I must be using the wrong reader, then. I just figured, since all my other feeds were retaining different numbers of entries (anywhere from seven to forty, excepting this one), it was up to the feed's originator.

I reduced the number down to the last 50. What's a good number to have it set to?

An awful lot of blogs and such seem to have it set to about 10 - 15. I'd say this is a good number as your not putting out more than 1 new story every hour and when I come in on monday (I don't check rss on weekend) there doesn't seem to be more than 15 anyway.

Any luck on lowering the RSS feed setting? I tried to use it in a newsreader and was told the size was too big. Also, the technorati ping hasn't been updated in 34 days still.
