Don't know if it's been mentioned here before, but it's news to me...

Now that I look at it again he is fat, it looks like he's packing the Right Hand Of Dough!

Now that is a much better paint job!
Looking forward to this.

Here's are two links to the old paintjob:

I liked the rendering of flat colors on the old one (esp. on his chest and belly and the RHoD) but the new choice of colors are way better.

i gotta go with the old one all around except for the base....the new base is better. But the older paint sceme lends itself more to the 2D feel of it being a cartoon. Still nice though.

I prefer the original paint job, as well.

The older paintjob is truer to the way Cheeks colors so I tend to prefer that paintjob although the new version isn't bad.

I agree that I like the older paint job better with the exception of the base (which looked like an after thought or they ran out of time).

A nice sculpture but a tad rich for my blood. I know more affordable things will be manifesting soon so I hope they keep the same eye on quality for those as well.

I definitely like the new paint better. Where's the best place to preorder this from? I've preordered stuff from TFAW and Entertainment Earth in the past but wasn't wowed in the end (the former cancelled items in my preorder, the latter didn't pack the items well at all). I bought a couple of statues from Bigbadtoystore, but for the Hellboy animated they don't have their usual collectors grade option available. I am looking for a place that has a good reputation, packs their stuff well, and has items/boxes in m/nm condition. Who would you recommend?

I prefer the old paint job too (not a fan of painted on shadows. It's a 3-D object. Why does it need painted on shadows?) aside from the day-glo base. But I'm not going to be buying it anyway, so perhaps my opinion is moot?

Well, you guys can blame me for the new paint job. It's not painted on shadows (they tried that-I hate 'em too) it's just supposed to bring out the detail. The show is grittier than Cheeks clean lines and this suggested that.

To be fair, if I had never seen the original paint job, I would think this one was fine.

And anyone who buys it and wants to (and has the knack) can repaint it, especially since a flat paint job would be pretty easy.

There are so many HB statues out there, I'm more interested in getting some of the supporting characters. And I know Tad has a sweet Abe statue just waiting to be revealed?!

i liked the juxtaposition of the sleek toony style/color with the gritty feel and atmosphere....i still think we'll get that from what ive seen on tad's blog.

I don't think I would buy this, as I'm not a statue guy, but it's really lovely.

I rather fancy the colors, too.
