My feelings towrds the Seinfeld show would be indiifferent at best. I have seen a few episodes here & there, may have raised a smirk, but nothing that grabbed me and made me want to watch it again.

However, after seeing one episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm & I was hooked, watched the whole fourth series on TV & bought the first three series in quick succession.

I remember one episode of Curb, when Larry mentions his Seinfeld connection to someone on the phone & reacted strongly when they said they'd seen it, but were not a fan. Thing is, that's how I feel.

Is this strange? Are there any others out there who are fans of one show but not the other?
I've tried to sell other people on how great Curb is, but it's hard to describe it without mentioning Seinfeld, which I find, tends to put people off it.

That's a good point. I've described CURB to people as:
Imagine if George & Jerry were actually successful at getting their sitcom off the ground, and George decided to move out to L.A. where he found that his new famous friends were just as messed up as him.

My wife won't watch CURB because the George character drove her crazy on SEINFELD.

Curb > Seinfield

Well, Curb is much closer to Larry's vision of what a comedy is without network suits getting in the way. Larry pretty much can do whatever he wants. He pretty much has total creative freedom.

i like both shows. but i find Larry David to be a much more compelling 'lead' than Jerry. of course, George was always my favorite member of the Seinfeld cast because of his anal retentiveness. and you understand where those quirks come from when you watch Curb Your Enthusiasm. Larry's just a trainwreck. my favorite episode is the one where he makes a comment about Wanda Sykes booty and it turns into Larry being a dangerous sexual deviant.

i hate Newman. and Curb Your Enthusiam gets points for working without a real script. the actors actually have to provide their own funny. i do like Kramer's lawyer and George's dad, though.

Banya, Poppie, Seinfeld parents, the passport guy...very awesome supporting characters.

The other thing about the show is it works well viewing it consistently. You have to get into the characters quirks, they do follow a continuity (like Kramers crackpot ideas tend to pop up, Georges toupee, "the jacket") to name a few. I can see how someone really wouldn't enjoy just peeking in and such.

You...you HATE NEWMAN

a Pox on both your houses.

Not sure how unscrippted Curb is. In fact there stories seem more set up then sienfield because of how the LITTLE things come back at the end of the show and everything ties together quiet well. It not only scripted but very well scrippted like a puzzle.

Which is while it take a while to get funny sometime. Because it some builds up that make the Jokes more funny at the end.

Sienfield had conencted jokers where little thing come back at the end as something big (the golf ball in the WHALE for example) but curb has more of that
