Marvel Slurpee cups

I used to collect the 1977 series as a kid. I happened upon my old collection and wondered if I was missing any...Anyone out there know how many were in the series.

Also, does anyone have a clue about cleaning that ring around the rim?! I'd like to clean them up and pass them along to my son. It's amazing the memories I get looking over those old cups!!!

I went on a recent Marvel Slurpee cup buying jag over at E-Bay a couple of months ago and managed to pick up about 40 of the first series and a dozen or so of series two and three.

And they are just beautiful little pieces of art.

Unlike the DC cups of a few years earlier which were made up of very stiff stock shots from inside the DC comics, the Marvel cups used a mixture of new art and “stock” illustrations by some of the best artists in the business.

I don’t know how many of them their were total, but I do know that there were three different editions that came out. And I know that they clean up nicely with a little dish soap, lukewarm water and gentle hand washing.

The cool thing is that when I first saw the post, I was in fact sipping kool-aid from my Black Knight cup.

It’s cool to know that someone else likes them too.

Thanks for the response Rick...I didn't realize there was a third series. Mine all date from 1977... and you're right the art is something. I will start cleaning mine and keep looking for the missing cups!

I have always been under the impression that the 1977 cups and the 1978 cups were different editions.

So were the wrap around picture cups just some special editions from 77 or what?

Anyone know the answer?
