Sometime in the early 1990s, I read a one off Archie comic (under 'Jughead' title) in which Archie's pal Jughead is visited by the time travelling hologram of one "Marshall January McAndrews". This young woman is supposed to be Archie Andrews' future descendent, but travelling back in time to contemporary Riverdale. The catch is that only Jughead can see, hear and communicate with her. Marshall wants to help Jughead get a social life like his other friends, but he ends up falling for the hologram herself! Seemed like an interesting idea. Does anyone know if Marshall January McAndrews featured in any more comics?

She may have popped up in the 'Jughead's Time Police' series in, IIRR, Archie Giant Series Magazine and its own title.
Edit: is this her on this cover?

The redhead on your cover is certainly her, but that's not the comic that I read. At least, it proves that MJM was not a one off. Thanks.
Episodes of "The Time Police" pop-up every now and again in Jughead's Double Digest.
(I dunno, maybe I'm reading too much into the sub-text, but I'm a bit worried about Juggy falling for a female version of his best friend, Archie ...)

He does just that in the comic that I read. In fact, he already has his hands full wuth his first girlfriend Debbie and her rival Joani Jumpp. The latter is supposed to have known him in school. Dera old Juggie really does not fall for either, but when MJM comes along to try and help him out, he ends up falling for her. Being Archie's descendant, she looks like him - complete with red hair, freckles and a bemused expression.

Her first appearance was, I believe, in Jughead Jones Digest No. 84 from October 1993. It's funny you brought this up because I just re-read this story a few weeks ago.

That might have been a reprint. I believe that her first appearance was in Archie Giant Series Magazine #590 (October 1988), the cover of which can be seen here (http://www.milehighcomics.com/cgi-bin/backissue.cgi?action=fullsize&issue=04422983860%20590).
I have that issue (though not at hand, at the moment) and one of the bits I recall is that the girl from the future knows what the "S" on Jughead's shirt stands for. She whispers the answer into Jughead's ear, but the secret is not revealed to the reader.

This gets interesting. I finally found the comic that I have and it is "Jughead" Vol-2 & No:#18 from 1990. It has the subtitle "The Soap Opera" and the Story is called "The Goodbye Girls". MJM appears in the second part of the story when Juggie is torn between Debbie & Joanie. But by Jughead's reaction, it is obvious that he has met her before & knows who she is. In fact, there is a credit line at the bottom that says that MJM also appeared in "World of Jughead" (which is one of 'Archie Giant Series magazine' subtitles) #590 & #602, as well as "Jughead" #14. I don't know what stories she appeared in after 1990, but Silvermanes' JJ Digest #84 looks like it is one of them.
Incidentally, an advert for the comic posted by T Guy in this thread appears on the inside back cover of my comic.:)

This is cool. I guess that it was a reprint.

One odd aspect of this character is that she is one of the few female comic book characters to sport, of all hairstyles, a MULLET!

January McAndrews is from the future. Maybe that kind if hairstyle was back in fashion by then! ;)
