Hi, all!
Just thought I'd say hello and that I am trying very hard to catch up on reading all the posts I've missed. It is not EASY you posting bunnies you. Plus I have to visit Tad's Hellboy animation site and catch up with THAT. And DJ experience, and Masks, and Perlman Pages. I'll be busy.
Newest latest thing I want to do is a quilted postcard -if I do one I will have to make a Hellboy one.
I think I'll make a Hellboy plush-like thing, but it will just look like a fabric-printed Hellboy pillow because I am so lame talent-wise; I haven't figured out how to do it yet.
And Happy Belated Birthday, everyone! Hope you had excellent CAKE.

Fun projects; I'd love to see what you create.
I've contemplated plushes myself, but haven't started anything. The number of pieces I'm imagining, and the amount of pattern tweaking involved is daunting! The printed pillow technique sounds like a good idea.

Welcome back, Celtic! I think if memory serves it's been awhile. :)
Quilting projects are cool. Not my thing, but I'm certainly here to encourage others to be crafty. :D

Well I'm new to the board, and you missed all the lame posts that I make while I'm at work (Air Force). Welcome back!

Thanks, all! Glad to be back!
Evening, I wish I was an artist so that I could make a fabric Hellboy doll. I was thinking that I could get a preprinted fabric doll pattern as a template, then print Hellboy out and cut to fit the template. It's still at the idea stage, I'll have to find just the right Hellboy image.
Bandit - your posts can't be any lamer than mine! :D Now are you a civvie working for the AF or are you in the Air Force?

I'm working on a stuffed fleece Hellboy...if he comes out okay, I can write up a how-to/pattern for it, if you'd like. I'm thinking some kind of quilting technique would work well for the lines across his fingers and the crackly texture on the arm, but don't know much about quilting...any tips?
Hmm...maybe we should start a Hellboy sewing thread (hehe, sewing thread)?

I LOVE puns! :D Yeah, we should have a sewing thread!
I'd love to see a how to pattern and also a pic of your stuffed fleece HB!
For quilting, what do you want to do - hand stitch or machine? I'm a machine quilter all the way - there is big controversy (well as much controversy as quilters get into) about hand vs. machine quilting.
I do stipple quilting around the images, that compresses the fabric around the image, allowing it to pop. Mostly I create very simple borders around the image, then quilt that part. I love MM's colors, so I love finding fabric to complement his colors.
A short list of quilt tips:
Always use 100% cotton fabric for your quilt projects, and wash them first. Always buy from reputable shops. http://www.keepsakequilting.com/ is my favorite quilt shop.
For small projects, and projects where you will do a lot of quilting, you want to use the very thinnest batting you can find. I like cotton batting instead of polyester but you should try both to see what your preference is.
Quilting, as with all sewing depends on your pieced layer being perfectly cut and sewed. That is always the hardest part for me. Once you get that down, quiltin's EZ.
