Mark Evanier reports that the editor and writer George Kashdan died on Saturday. He was a significant figure at DC from the '40s to the '60s, and after that he wrote a number of stories for Gold Key and Western. With his passing, we lose yet another link to our past.

As far as I know, he and I are not related.

May he rest in peace.

Sad news, indeed.

I have enjoyed countless stories either edited or written by Mr. Kashdan. I have a real soft spot in my heart for his Gold Key books like Grimm's Ghost Stories.

Thanks for sharing Aaron - and thanks to ME for another of his wonderful obits. He does such a great job at paying tribute to comic creators who have passed on.

I spent a lot of time trying to find George Kashdan while I was working on the Titans Companion, all of it spent in vain. I even had people tell me that he was dead when I knew it wasn't so. Unfortunately, now they're right. Fortunately, other comic book historians were able to find him and interview him about his career, and his memory was apparently great. I remember wondering if he would be lucid if I did find him, so I'm glad to hear that he was and that valuable information was attained for posterity. Still, from a purely selfish angle, I wish that I could have been the one to conduct those interviews! I was a year late on Bob Haney and missed speaking with the only other person who was right there when the Teen Titans was created. Hope that all of the necessary Titans/Donna Troy questions were asked, and join with others in honoring his memory.

...several scripts for the DC Filmation cartoons that ran on Saturday mornings in the late 60s. These played a big role in public perception of the characters and kept them in view until Super Friends came along in the mid-70s.
