Who would you guys cast for the next movie? Especially for characters that so far have not been embodied on film, like Roger, Johann, Kate, etc
I would have liked Michelle Pfeiffer as Kate..but she's too old and Kate won't be in the movie.

What was she in?

I wouldn't hire a skinny Minnie or just some pretty face. Kate needs some meat on her. Older's good, too. I like Bonnie Hunt...she's one of my favorite actors and she's high-larious (don't hold Cheaper by the Dozen against her). She'd play great against Jeffrey Tambor (Manning).

With Tony Shalhoub. Good gravy, she's practically Kate in this photo!

wow, that's an excellent pick hellboyone.
So then Michelle would be ok too, she's just as old.
Peri Gilpin.
They make wigs, you know.

She's good but she'll have to double her hot dog intake between now and the first day of production.

Not that we'd really see him anyway, but I bet Crispin Glover could nail Johann.

I tried to convince Guillermo back when he was casting the first Hellboy movie to consider Crispin for Abe (although I now realize that Doug Jones was practically born for that role). His comment was that Crispin is crazy- his words. I've heard from other actors and people who've worked with Crispin that he is QUITE eccentric, so I doubt we'll see him in a Hellboy movie anytime soon. One never knows though.

I have always thought Dennis Haysbert would make a fantastic Roger.

Wait a minute, what's this hot dog eating business, Kate's not that voluptuous. She's got heavy metal thighs but she ain't no heavy girl.
If they didn't pick Selma Blair, Jennifer O'connley would have been good...she's got Liz's way of staring into nothingness.

I think he'd make a great Bud Waller, but I'm not sure about Roger. I guess I can see it. :)

I always think of Kate's exchange with Hellboy in Wolves of St. August right before she fell through the floor..."..is that a crack about my weight?" I'm not saying she's gotta be fat, but bigger than your usual Hollywood waif.

Then I'll audition the part. I'm PERFECT. And I love hotdogs.
Actually Bonnie Hunt is perfect.

That's a great suggestion! I could definitely see it, especially from his amazing performance in Far From Heaven.
When first reading Seed of Destruction, I pictured Kristen Scott Thomas as Liz. That was back shortly after Four Weddings and a Funeral, though. Obviously she was too old when the movie was made. I suspect that Kate would also be made younger than she is in the comics for a movie.

In fact, they should make part of the audition a hot dog eating contest. Back in 2005, Sonya Thomas (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonya_Thomas) ate 37 hot dogs in 12 minutes! Unfortunately, she doesn't look much like Kate.
I'll be standing next to the ketchup & mustard dispensers rooting for Peri Gilpin. With relish.

I would pick Anna Levine Thompson, but only if she used her british accent, which is fantastic for something so synthetic. Karla Gugino and Mariska Hagarty were other choices I was toyinbg with, Karla could actually work if she weren't so bloody attractive. In the case of my number one choice, the only problem is that Anna Levine Thompson has enormous breasts, and that may be a tad bit distracting. Jeremy Irons would be my choice for Johann if they went older, Andrian Brody, if they decide to go with a younger actor. Alan Cummings would be an honorable metion.

Actually I wouldn't mind Mr Irons to play the part of Daagda.
If that part's in it that is.

I realize he's getting a bit long in the tooth these days (having experienced his hayday in the late 80's), but there's gotta be a part in the next movie for Michael Ironside. I always loved that character actor, as he does the whole drill sargeant thing so well. Maybe he could be a tough as nails take no prisoners BPRD agent?
In case you're thinking, "who the heck is Michael Ironside", here's a link to his IMDB listing:

Has anyone got a pic of the Roger Statue from the background of HB 1!
I paused it on the directors cut special features~He looks good!
I loved the fact that the film had so many little things like that in it!
Hooves etc ...Thanks Mr.Del Toro.:)
Johann hmm he would have to have a unigue voice, not sure of suggestions.

What about someone like Vin Diesel for Roger? His Riddick personna might be good and he's done comedy (Iron Giant) He's got the build...but if he was a body in a suit and voiced over...Dennis Haysbert has got a great voice. Johann will also probably be either all CG or they'll have a body in a suit wearing green head gear and CG his head out. If so for voices...John Glover, Crispins Dad? Good at accents and has quite a range of acting ability. He would capture the part.

Crispin Glover (who will be playing Grendel in the Beowulf movie) is just waaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too wierd.
In the realms of Weirdness, on the first planet in the solar system, you have Tim Burton. A couple of planets out, you have Rutger Hauer and Christopher Walken. On the outer rim worlds, you have H.R. Giger.
About 5,642 galaxies away on the dark side of the last moon of the last planet, you have Crispin Glover.

I don't know, I think there isn't much of a reason to cast Vin as Roger if he's going to be dubbed over. Seems like a lot of work, to be put in makeup every day, which would undoubtledly take hours, just to be dubbed.

Might be a bit more work, but they did it with Abe Sapien and V (V for Vendetta) to name a few. I think Diesel would be great as Roger (he's got the physique) and very similar facial features.
