I had seen this one before, but it's a great one. From the narration down to the editing, it is perfect. And Yul Brynner steals the show in this trailer as much as he does in the movie.

Hystercial, I've watched it about 20 times now. My favorite part is Samuel L. Jackson as Principal Firebush

Aw man! That's some funny shit.
Is there any one site that has all these "previews" conviniently listed? I've seen a few others (The Shining, West Side Story, etc) and they've all been hilarious!

I notice some of these are much better than others.
It's clear that it's hard to recut a comedy, because the shot structure, lighting, and body language simply can't pass as anything else. This is doubly true when they choose to retain shots more than a couple seconds long.

the Shining as a family comedy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1RVKqVSdHJ8)...
Sleepless in Seattle (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vI89JJ-fxbs) as a thriller - my personal favorite.

Hadn't seen the Taxi Driver one before.
Made me laugh out loud.
Still think Shining is the best of these I have seen though. I was showing people that one for weeks after I first saw it. Still makes me chuckle.

Well, now we've finally got somthing on CBR I can speak about with some authority... promo cutting!!!!
Of course, with a good trailer people know what they like, so it's not somthing I can really add anything eye opening but to agree with Noah.
(oh and despite being amusing, the guy who cut Ferris is a really shit editor. There were flash frames in the finished product for crying out loud!)
I think the Shining and Ten commandments are the funniest, because they are using elements that were already in the film, but are changed by the music/cutting.
(The Shining actually won a competition for recutting trailers, hence it's staus as kick starting the craze).
That is, I think the idea came from watching the film, where some of the others suffer because someone decided to force the film to fit the idea - Taxi Driver and Dumb and Dumber, as well as Ferris, all show this.
School Of Rock is good at building the suspense, but as there is n o action in it, it doesn't work as well as it should.
Sleepless in Seattle and Sound Of Music are amusing, although it's style rather than substance that does it.
My only problem with SoM is that it uses elements that were already in the film, and just leaves the music out. Funny, but it's kind of cheating.
Sleepless in Seattle rules for showing women what guys see when we are forced to watch that film.
Oh, here's a link to MUST LOVE JAWS, the film mentioned in the Commandments one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=coAoZqQNhmE&search=must%20love%20jaws

I have never wanted to see The Sound of Music until now.
Also, I'm thinking of all the people to send these to. The Shining one is freaking brilliant.
What gets me is the voiceovers. They sound like the actual people who do them. I wonder if they are.
