Valmore

Well, Gloria finally gave birth to our baby on June 6th at 2:33 p.m. Abbie Elaine weighed 7 pounds and was 20 and 1/4 inches tall.

And I'll get the joke out of the way - the baby is beautiful because she takes after mommy. Daddy was taking the picture.
"Valmore Tot" just doesn't sound right, though...

Thanks for the well wishes. :) Gloria is indeed doing just fine. fortunately she was able to give birth normally, with no c-section. We're both just a bit exhausted, her for obvious reasons; me because I didn't get to sleep for well over 24 hours, since she was hving the rough contractions when I got home from work (I work evenings).
Say what you will about Wal*Mart, but it was really the only place open at 1 a.m. to give us a place to walk to help the contractions along. Besides Kinko's, Target Copy and whatever bars were open, that is.
Who said she has to be nicknamed after you? Bardette works.
As does Bardling. Bardot probably sends the wrong message though...

Well, if Gloria wants to do all of the humor threads about her cuteness, she can nickname her however she wants.

Aww, Val, you blew it, dude. Think about how cool it would have been to say your daughter was born in a bar on 6/6/06.

Why in the world can't she be Baby Bard? Why does it have to be a take on your name?
Bardette?
Li'l Barda?

Ohhh, trust me: you'll get suckered and sucked into doing them, too. :D
CONGRATULATIONS!!! So glad mommy and baby are doing well. Abbie is gorgeous.
Oh, Val? Get what sleep you can while they're in the hospital. Seriously. Then, you can give Bard a break when she gets home (getting up with baby) while *she* sleeps.
I did NOT get enough sleep in the hospital, after Finn. Then again, I had to share a room with another mother, who was up all hours, and when Finn wasn't crying, hers was, and when they were both quiet, the nurses were coming in... usually for her, because she was being stubborn about something she needed to be doing. Argh. I was Worn Out.

06-08-2006, 06:32 PM
Why not do that at the hospital?
Basically, if her contractions weren't consistent enough, the hospital would just tell her to go walk and send her home. Hence, we needed the contractions to be consistent enough to admit her - strong ones every 4 to 5 minutes for a full hour was the target. A few slow walks around Wal*Mart and she was there.

Can I push your hatred of the Irish on her? Her mom's part Scottish so she might be down with that.

Mommy would just settle for a Long Island Ice tea. . . (when not feeding the baby).
Who said she has to be nicknamed after you? Bardette works.
By the way, hand over the money. :evilsmile
Li'l Barda?
That's it!!!
Trust me, she big enough and tough as nails. . . Just not raised on Apokolips. Though her daddy may act like Darkseid to any enamored boy geeks in the future.

Sounds like our experience in the hospital, even though we had a private room. I didn't get the particular room I'd preregistered for, and very few things in the room worked. As to the traffic, two of my co-workers finally put up a "Do not disturb . . . this means staff too." outside my door for three hours so I could get a cat nap after being up 36 hours. I was really near meltdown by then.
LoL. Of course, that first night, she'd poop again as soon as Valmore or I would change her diapers, then poop again. She's started settleing down to a semblance of a routine . . . so we're extremely thankful for that.

Thanks Winslow!
I wish I'd snagged on of those newborn CG sigil bodysuits when they had a CG mall. Abbie has already stole my heart like Persha stole Ingra's.
I am truly blessed!
