Am looking for suggestions on a good Wacom Tablet...
I basically need it for graphic design work and such...
Anyone have any good/bad reviews of some of the older models?? I can't really afford the latest ones as I have little income right now...
Have found several on ebay of course but have no idea which are good and which are not...help!!!
Cheers,
Erin

I use the Intuos2 6x8 Wacom with my home system. I use it mostly to create my comics which I draw using the pen in PhotoShop. I use it for graphic design, but I don't really use the pen for that. I use the mouse.
You should only really get a Wacom if you are doing digital illustration or "painting" which use the pressure sensitive features of the tablet.
There is not that much advantage of using a Wacom for normal design work with Quark or InDesign. A good mouse would work just as well.

I have an Intuos2 6x8 tablet. It's an older generation, but it works just fine for my needs. Never had any problems with it.

I'm still happily using an Intuos 9X12 for animating.

I have an Intuos 2 6x8 and it works well, but Brandon is correct. I don't use it as much as I thought I would. If you plan to actually draw or paint and need pressure sensitive, hand-drawn brush strokes, it works well. But I typically draw the b&w by hand, scan it in, and then color and touch up the picture using the art program. For that, the pen just isn't as useful as my mouse which lets me key different colors to each button and use the mousewheel to quickly zoom in and out and move around the page (which I tend to do a lot). So really consider what you plan to do before you buy it.
As for saving money, I bought mine on ebay, a brand new (not used) tablet from Singapore. It was about half the price of buying it off the shelf in the US.

Brandon and Sam bring up good points. What exactly will you be using the tablet in tandem with? I use mine with Flash and Photoshop and its very handy for those two.

I would be using it with PC versions of Photoshop CS and Corel PhotoPaint...as well as their sidekicks CorelDraw and Adobe Illustrator...
So...
Good idea??
I basically create logos and designs for clothing as well as my own art/comics/anime...

An Intuos2 should work for you.

their sidekicks Adobe Illustrator...
Oh, that hurts. Illustrator is the bomb-diggety, and was Photoshop's predecessor.

What's bad about Draw? I've never used it, but we have CorelPaint which is amazing.

Its what the boss uses...
And when I switched across to illustrator on my own, it wasn't too big a jump...just way more options...

Not that Illustrator was such great shakes then, either. Freehand wiped the floor with it.
