I think the solicitations have come out on this already, but I'm helping out on Supergirl and the Legion of Super-Heroes for a few issues, starting with issue #20. And I'm terribly excited about this for a number of reasons.
First of all, I've always had a weird love for the Legion. Some of the earliest comics I saw were Legion books, back before I really started reading comics regularly, and I always had an affinity for Mon-El (or ANY character with puffy sleeves), Timberwolf, and Wildfire.
I'm also excited to work with my good friend Mark Waid again. Mark rescued me from editorial and hooked me up with my writing gig at CrossGen, from whence all my writing gigs have flowed. He's a terrific guy, a monumental talent, and a generous collaborator. And he didn't even pay me to say those things.
I'm also pleased to be working with editor Steve Wacker, one of the real rising stars at DC editorial. Steve used to do an off (off!) Broadway improv super-hero comedy stage show in Manhattan called "Kablam", which I believe is how we met him. I used to work for DC Group Editor Dan Raspler back then, and he was in the show (along with Darick Robertson), and it was great fun. Steve really knows his stuff. I dfon't know how many of you ever buy a book based on the editor, but you might wanna juist keep an eye out for projectss he's attached to.
Anyhow, there may be no Mon-El or Wildfire these days, but Legion has long been one of my dream assignments, and for at least two or three months I'll be living the dream.

And why are you doing this, is Mark behind schedule or something?
Could you please please please have Saturn Girl just kick some major booty in your run?
She's the be all end all of the Legion for me.

And for that reason alone, makes you cool in my book.
BTW, Good luck with the Issues.
(subliminal message: Bring back Mon-El, pretty please?)

I'm just a guest on that book, so I won't be able to bring back Mon-El. But if they ever decided to give me the book full-time, that would surely be on my to-do list.
As for your love of Saturn Girl, Deathstroke, I think this speaks to why the Legion is great -- everybody's got their favorite, and there are so many to choose from! Now, I have to admit, Imra's not playing a big part in the issue's I'm helping out on. And, yes, I'm helping out because of deadline pressures on Waid. He and I have worked together before, and it's a pretty seamless collaboration when we do. I'm thrilled to have a chance to help out.
You know what I'd love to do? An L.E.G.I.O.N. mini-series!

*Has silent fanboy like moment over continued marginalizing of Saturn Girl*
Okay, that's over now.
A L.E.G.I.O.N. mini would be great. I loved the original series.

Legion is one of my dream jobs. You mind if I call you a lucky bastard?
I always wanted to revamp Tyroc and fix what was broke.

That would be interesting, especially considering how much Vril Dox plays a role in the DCU currently. From his appearances in Adam Strange: Planet Heist to Rann/Thanagar War and Infinite Crisis as well as upcoming Omega Men, I would love to see what you could do with him. But PLEASE... if you do a L.E.G.I.O.N mini, avoid using the Spider Guild. They're not the only cosmic menace out there, I'm sure.

WOuld this be you doing all the writing chores, or a Mark plots/Tony scripts deal?
Regardless, I look forward to it. Legion is one of my favorite reads each month.

We co-plot in conference calls with editor Steve Wacker. Barry Kitson has a say, too. For some writers, this sort of round-robin brainstorming might be a nightmare, but I really thrive on talking through a story and getting outside input. It's one of the things I miss most about Crossgen. Once we have our basic plot ideas lined up, I bang out a full script which Mark and Steve review. It's been a blast so far.

Silly Tony...Did I say Bring back Mon-El?;)
Reminder to self: Take to get subliminal brainwashing machine fixed, it's on the fritz again.
Well anyhoo, since the Solicit for #22 is up. Can I bribe you into talking about the L.S.V?:)
