Yesterday I was working the front desk in my gallery and I had a customer who caught me off guard. He was a middle aged Asian man who spoke with a Texan accent. I don't know why it seemed so out of place, I mean I live in a small city with people from all kinds of racial backgrounds and most of them speak exactly the same as me. Why should it be any different in Texas? He was loud and had a drawl but he wasn't white and he didn't where cowboy boots or a Stetson. My bad.

I had a guy prove a stereotype correct yesterday actually. I live right across the street from the place I work at, so when I was out walking my dog with my girlfriend, we saw our coworker Freddy crossing the street. He lives in the same complext as us, and also works in the same store.
So we start BSing, and he looks down at my dog says "Ya know, Filipino's eat dogs". I always thought people were messing around when they said stuff like that, but this guy just told us out of the blue. Kind of weirded me out at first. I was afraid he was going to try and eat my dog. But I learned that big dogs like mine (black lab) don't taste very good.
So the next time someone says something about people eating dogs, it's okay to laugh. It's the truth.
Koreans eat dogs. Filipinos may also but im sure koreans do.

I know Filipinos do too, cause they guy in my story who told me they do, was Filipino himself.

Having lived in Texas most of my life... cowboy boots are the most uncomfortable shoes/boots on the planet for guys (I think girls have us beat with the stilettos, but I'm not sure) I had to look up “Stetson” to know what you were talking about. I really don’t like country-Western music etc… Then again, when you say you're from Houston to a West Texas person, you'll likely to be called a non-Texan.
One of my favorite Asian families in Houston was one where the husband and wide both met at UT Austin... They are such Austinites; it's not funny. I grew up in Houston, but love Austin. Probably why I like them so much.

Sorry, stereotypes run deep. I was just in the Texas of the North (Alberta) and saw more than a few Stetsons and cowboy boots there.

I'm Asian-American and was born in Houston, Texas. I had a Texan drawl up until about five when I moved to the Chicagoland area. It happens. People immigrate here from other parts of the world.
Addon - AND NO! You do not eat Man's best friend!
