Hello all,
I have been curious of the history of file-copies ... I know that Dell and Gold Key (Random House) has been in the habit of keeping file-copies and selling them over the past few years (Metropolis, and recently on eBay I have seen Random House copies, I have a short history of Dell and Gold Key on my website (http://156.26.14.231:90/thompson/features_dellgoldkey.htm)). But I was curious of DC and/or Marvel file-copies, or original art. I love hearing and reading about the history of comics, but not much is said about this area. I have my story about file-copies on my site (http://156.26.14.231:90/thompson/features_filecopies.htm). I am curious what others know about this genera of comics.

At a show many years ago, Jack Schiff was selling his personal file copies (with a COA), even though they varied in condition.

(Not quite the same thing, but I've also seen more than one comic pro selling their comp copies of recent books, usually at bargain prices)

I have bought a few file copies of rare issues in the past from a reputable London dealer. They were all Silver Age Harvey comics and so while they cost more than average, they were not very expensive. The condition was VFN+ to NM. The only 'proof' was the rubber stamp "FILE COPY" at the back.
