Any other fans of Hirohiko Araki here? The artist famous for Jojo's Bizarre Adventure! I recommend it for anyone looking for a mature Manga title with some strange magical storylines and cool fight scenes.
The Manga(Generation 3 anyway) is now coming out here finally!

I am hoping if it sells well that we can get Generations 1-2,and 4-7 over here.
You can also get the OVA's of the same series here.

So far I have read through volume 3 and love it. I ordered the entire set of DVDs after reading this review
http://www.dvdvisionjapan.com/Jojodvd1.htm
I cant wait to watch them.
I cant put my finger on it but I really did the style and art in Jojo's. It is a mix of Tetsuo Hara(Fist of the North Star/Blue Sky) and something more akin to a standard Shonen Weekly.
If anyone has any info on the other series or just some comments that would be cool. Thanks!

I've been enjoying the manga as it's being released by Viz, so far. It's definitely bizarre, but at some point I begin to wonder why Jojo and crew just don't automatically beat the crap out of anyone with a weird sense of fashion. It's not like the characters don't stand out.

I lost interest after Jotaro's storyline, feeling that it lost direction at that point. But everything before then was very enjoyable.

Originally saw it years ago (fansub), been in love with it since. Just haven't gotten past the third Jojo. Dio rocks. The Stands are usually cool. It's got a distinctive art style. And some of the references are hilarious.
For those seeing the US DVD release, watch the introduction of Iced in the original Japanese, and listen closely for Iced's original name. And try not to laugh too hard.
EDIT: One final note, there are actually two OVAs. The first OVA was released as episodes 8-13 in the US DVDs, with the second one, done years later, as the first 7 episodes. Not seen the first seven, though I have heard the last six are a better quality.

I am really hoping that the Manga sells well enough to get the Early Jojo Generation books here. They are making a Anime Movie of the Jojo Generation 1 storyline so that may be enough of a tie- in for Viz.

I just finished watching all of the DVDs on 06/14/06.
Now if you know the history of this OVA its backwards.
DVDs 4-6 Came out first in Japan as Jojo Bizarre Adventure in 1993-4.(Its basically a streamlined version of the Manga from the halfway point to the end) Then in 1999-2000 the original production team wanted to finish the entire Jojo Generation 3 manga and do the begining of the story. These DVDs(on the US release they are 1-3) were done with newer computer animation and not film like the previous ones. Overall though it is very consistent but I have to say that Jotaro looks more like the Manga Jotaro in the DVDs 4-6(93,film animation) then in the Early 1-3 DVDs with the Computer animation. Its just so ever slightly different model.
Now anyway onto the Review!!
Overall I was very pleased with the DVDs as a fan of the Manga and these types of stories. The plot isnt very thick but the action is great and the charicters are all very unique. Iggi is cute too!
Story/Plot B
The animation was very good and overall both the newer made episodes and the older ones look fantastic. The charicters are all designed well and stay true to their Manga origin(Except for some reason Jotaro has more of an older man look in the DVDs 1-3...like more weathered)
Animation/Art A
Now the soundtrack and the foley for these DVDs are friggen incredible. Props to Skywalker sound for this. Seriously if anything these destroy most other anime in the sound department due to this alone. You also get 4 soundtrack choices Japanese 2.0 Stereo,Japanese 5.1 Digital,English 2.0 Stereo, and English 5.1 Digital.
Music/Sound A+
The Japanese voice cast is great and they are fantastic. You really get a feel for the charicters and their personalities. The English dub cast is hot and cold. Some are good(Jotaro,Joseph) but most of them fall pretty flat.
Original Japanese Audio A
English Dub Audio C
The subs are nice and they use the green color to overlap conversations like Animeigo does(I hate when companies dont do that. ).
Each DVD is also loaded with Extras. Not many anime have extras but these have some great ones.
There are interviews with Hirohiko Araki(creator of JoJo manga),the directors, the animation charicter designer(same guy from Hokuto no Ken) The Japanese Voice cast,The US voice cast,Skywalker sound production teams Etc.
There is also a JoJo time line feature that runs on 5 of the 6 DVDs and Image galleries Etc.
DVD Extras A++
Like I said I enjoyed it but its not without its faults. It kinda drags in the middle but the ending is awesome and well worth it. There are also some great funny bits and some great fights with the Stands.
Overall Grade A

I should pick up the hard to find Anime DVDs. I'd seen a friend's copy and some fansubs. SueprTechnoArts was a small comapny and released them at an insane price for such an unkown and cult series.
I just read the fourth volume of the manga from Viz today. Quite good. This really is a Japanese superhero comic. There are some quite interesting powers and events in this book.
Also, if you like JoJo, you should love this flash toon which has spawned a rather (in)famous internet catchprhase and meme. Wryyyyyyyyyyyyyyy! I pretty much was sold on importing the DS game Jump Superstars because you could play as Dio and do those movies.

(Oh yeah, that's from the Dreamcast fighting game. Might also have come out to PS2.)

Jojo is incredible, one of my fav mangas. I have all the six series, didnt get Speed Ball Run yet because I prefer to get all the issues when serie is complete
I enjoyed the 4th more than the legendary third, but just because it has what I consider to be the better characterized villain of the serie (you'll see guys..his stand KICKS ASS) and some of the best fights you'll find..and yes, Jotaro is present, and he will be in every serie till the last (which is the six, for now) as well

I'm going to bump this and say JJBA is one of, if not the most creative shonen series out there. It's probably even wackier than One Piece, and that is surely a compliment. And yes, Dio Brando is awesome.

http://www.rightstuf.com just posted a bundle of all 6 Jojo's discs for 60 bucks, more then 1/2 the regular retail price for the discs. No idea if this is a RS exclusive or not, though their bundles usually tend to be..... [no box, just cheap dvd's]... I was kind of curious when I saw it posted, as the OVA's are hard to come across at retail.

Nice. Though it seems SuperTechnoArts has them for the same price. Then agian , they're selling through ebay. Yeah. That's a good sign when an anime liscensor has to sell their stuff through ebay. -rolleyes-

I'd just like to say that the 5th Series, Golden Experience, of JJBA is my favourite and is still one of the best stories I have read in a while!
