No, I don't mean the upcoming Companion volume.
In the "Carl Barks' Greatest Ducktales stories vol. 1" tpb, there's a solicitation for The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck with annotations by Rosa and art "never before seen in the United States". I don't own the current edition of this volume, so I have no idea whether or not this is newly added material. What I do know is that the ad says the tpb is 264 pages, which is neither the length of the current volume nor the upcoming companion, so I'm assuming this is a new repackaging of the old trade. My local comic store owner could not verify this in previews or on Diamond's website. Does anyone know anything about this? I've been wanting to get this volume, but will wait if a newer and better version is on the way.

I have heard of a new edition of Don Rosa's "Life & Times of $crooge McDuck". As you know, the already published softcover edition has only the main 12 chapters but not the "in-between" stories like $crroge's adventures on the Cutty Sark or in Pizen Bluff. But a more expensive hardcover volume is supposed to be out in September-October of this year featuring those additional stories as well. I am eagerly waiting for it. I have ALL of Rosa's stories published so far, but this one should be a good collector's item.

Wow. That's even a different version than the one I'm speculating about. This one in the ad is supposed to cost $16.99. But, if you're sure about a hardcover that includes the companion pieces, I'll definitely hold out for that!

The $16.99 version IS the 12-chapter softcover version. The hardcover one is supposed to also include Cutty Sark, Pizen Bluff and Cullebra Cut stories, but not 'Hearts of the Yukon' or 'Of Ducks, Dimes & Destinies'.

Do you mean that the softcover will contain "Hearts of the Yukon" and "Of Ducks, Dimes & Destinies," or were you lamenting the fact that neither will?
Incidentally, what's the cover price on the hardcover version?

Neither version has those 2 stories. Don Rosa considered that they were subplots and not really part of the series. I don't agree with him, but he is the boss.
Incidentally, his latest story "The Prisoner of White Agony Creek" is also not going to be included for the same reason, although it falls within the timeframe.
Gemstone have not yet announced the price, but if I were to guess, I'd say that it would be around $40.
