View Full Version : Allow Me To Explain

Hi Gang,

First off I hope Tim will forgive me for placing this on the Classics Comics Board, I know it absolutly doesn't belong here, but I figured that I should explain what’s going on and what it is exactly that I’m doing here.

The long and short of it, is that amazingly enough, I made “parole”.

Tom, Matt, Greg and the rest of the moderators decided to give me one more chance posting out here at CBR.

And for that I can’t thank them enough, because let’s be blunt, when I got myself thrown out back in 2004, I really, and I mean really, deserved it. All I have to say about that time is that apparently some people can be made insane by the American electoral process, and I apparently am one of them.

I would also like to take this chance to apologize to everyone who I insulted, abused and generally treated like crap during that time. I won’t make any excuses about my behavior, but I do hope that I can make amends for it.

The way this is going to work as I understand it, is that until I prove myself a bit more, they are going to limit my access to Classic Comics, the TV Board and the Music Board, which is why I posted this here.

I can’t express how happy, amazed and nervous this chance makes me. I’m just so glad to be given this opportunity, and I’m just so happy to be able to interact with all of the people here at CBR who I care for and respect.

Thank you to everyone involved in making the decision, and I will do everything I can to make sure that I earn the faith you all have shown in me.

Yeah, I'm pretty psyched to be back.

As for the bannings, all I can say is that as I understand it, if I screw this one up there is some definite talk about public execution.

Welcome back, Rick. It's great to see you again.

Although things are a little less combustible here at Classics than on the Comm Board, there are plenty of great people and some really great discussion re. funnybooks.

Feel free to jump right in, the water's fine.

Thanks guys, like I said, it really is good to be back.

Honestly, I don't know all of the ins and outs of the conversation that let me back in, but I'm pretty certain that more then anyone else, I've got Tom to thank for letting me back on.

For me personally, this is a great 10th anniversary present.

We're really happy it worked out.

Personally, for old times' sake, I'm hoping rick can be persuaded to do his trivia quizzes again. Although I warn you, this board has got some serious game.

And, yes, Greg's right. We need the old quizzes! Even if I never did win them, they were still a heck of a lot of fun!

I really am glad to be back, especially considering the welcome home I've been getting.

No promises on the quiz, but we'll see what I can work up.

I've got to say this and forgive me for gettting all mushy, but I really did miss you people and I am really glad to see you missed me too.

It's good to be back.

How can we be sure it is really you? Are you sure you aren't some evil doppleganger? Or an evil twin perhaps?

No, no, you've got it wrong.

I've always been the evil twin.

That's how you know it's me. :)

Hmmmm...

Sorry Rick, if you are going to hang out in this forum you are going to have to surrender that title. Mike Kuyper has been, is, and always will be the Evil Twin

Kimosabe and Sir Tim will back me on this one, as will Red Oak and everyone who is a long time follower of the Classic Comics Thread.

As a compromise, I hereby dub thee The Sinister Sibling

Actually, and I mean this with all due respect, but I betcha I've been hanging out at this forum a heck of a lot longer then most of the other evil twins out there.

But still, I am a new man and am only here to please, so I'll happily give up the "evil twin" title.

Just as long as I don't have to give up the evil part. :evilsmile

The only one who refers to me as the Evil Twin is InfoBroker. I lay no claim to the title, believe me.

Hi Ray.

Things are actually going very well.

Trouble has had a few health problems over the last two years, me too for that matter, but that's mostly just creeping middle age.

Jessica just graduated from college with her degree in Theatre and is working for a company that builds sets for theatres across the west. She travels alot and takes Tara with her, but with the kid starting kindergarden in the fall, Jess is looking for something a bit more settled.

Sarah and her boyfrined have just bought a small house and are running their own business rebuilding refrigerators and washers and dryers.

I thought it was a terrible idea when they started it, but I'll be dammed if they aren't making more money then I am.

And Cassie is now 16 and is having a fine time drivng my car everywhere and living the cheerleaders life.

So everything there is going fine.

I hope everything is going well for you, and it is really, really good to be back.

I didn't even know there was such an industry.

I didn't even know there was such an industry.

Yeah, me either.

But what they do is buy old beat up ones, fix them up and sell them mostly to apartment complexes and Laundrymats.

And they have managed to make a pretty decent living at it, and have even hired a couple of techs.

Who'd have thought?

It makes more since now that you mention who they sell to. For some reason that didn't even cross my mind. After I made that post, though, I thought maybe they were buying old vintage pieces and fixing them up and selling them to hipsters.

Funny you should say that, because when they first told me what they were doing that is exactly what I thought.

It's probably our collector mentality at work. :)
