I guess it was old (8 years)..but it just made a HUGE pop sound and it went dead followed by the lovely smell of electrical burning..nice.

Are you sure the ghost of Elvis didn't shoot it?

My mom always told me "If you watch dirty movies your TV will blow up." Or I would go blind. I forget which. :)

When I read that title I pictured fire and possibly a large explosion. I was very disappointed to find that the TV blowing-up in question had none of these things.

Yeah, I wanted pictures of flaming Seinfeld re-runs.

Maybe you hurt your TV's feelings?
My old TV died exactly two days after I started looking for a new TV. 17 years without any problem, then it's just gone. Jealousy is a bitch!

And just when you finally replaced the computer. At least with the TV you won't be missing much.

What where you watching when it went pop?

If it was a battle scene from some movie, that would be pretty cool. :)

Well, there you go.

His TV bravely sacrificed itself to save his vision. *sniff*

Your TV exploding is one of the worst things that could happen in your life and I offer my condolences.

I've got a whizzy new 27" LCD High Definition and I'll smash it just to make you feel better.

There. Done it!

If it makes you feel any better, the same exact thing happened to me. My tv was about 10 yrs old. We were watching it when the loud pop noise happened. The screen did some really funny things and became a blur of colors before going black. Then came the burning smell.

Luckily we had a new tv that was really unused that we could replace it with. Not that telling you that part of the story makes you feel any better....

Wait? Doesn't a ghost come out through the TV on that film?

Maybe your TV dies to save you from creepy haunting?

Look on the bright side. At least, the explosion wasn't THAT huge.

Not true! We would mourn your hair if anything ever happened to it. There would be a memorial service and eulogies. I think you have to have 20 signatures before you can even go in for a trim, now.

ElvisGuy, just wanted to mention I'm glad to see you posting again. Sorry I missed your initial welcome back thread.

And that is truly eerie about your TV, given what you were watching.
