Just Recently I have been watching old the X-men cartoons , and during the Phoenix Saga, J gets tossed like a rag Doll by G. I was wondering if this happened in the comics and Did they ever fight again? I mainly ask because I believe that Juggernaut wasn't trying very much when they first met and had he fought as hard as he could he could have perhaps beaten Gladiator. If he did ever beat Gladiator, could someone please tell me what issues exactly? Thanks in Advance anyone.

I don't recall them ever fighting in canon. But Gladiator could logically do what he did in the toon with Juggernaut. Gladiator's basically a 'Superman' classed character, and doesn't have all that much of a weakness. Well, except for the fact his powers are entirely based on his confidence and self-image. If his faith in himself or his powers waver, he actually becomes weakened.

I can't really think of any times the two actually fight.. I'm pretty sure Gladiator would win though, he's pretty hard to hurt, like even harder to hurt than good old Cain Marko I think

Not just Superman... Silver Age Superman. Badass.

It made sense in the cartoon for no other reason than the fact that Gladiator can pretty much do whatever he thinks he can do. Since he hadn't actually seen how tough Juggernaut was at that point, there was no reason for him to think that he couldn't just manhandle the guy.

"Whosoever touches this gem shall be granted the power of the Crimson Bands of Cyttorak! Henceforth, you who read these words, shall become ... forevermore ... a human juggernaut!"

"In brightest day, in blackest night,
No stepbrothers shall escape my sight.
Let those who would be bald and white,
Beware my power... the Juggernaut's might!"

juggernaut was never written powerfully enough imo. he's supposed to be UNSTOPPABLE! not just mildly annoying to stop. sigh. i'll take vintage juggernaut over captain planet any day.

To be fair, he was written powerfully enough in his first appearance- literally, nothing physical could stop or hurt him, only Xavier's mental attack. It's just that he was afflicted with Wolverine Syndrome, where you constantly get the spit kicked out of you to prove how badass a new hero or villain is. And his power started being used more literally, changing from "nothing stops him" to "once he builds up a full head of steam, nothing can stop him charging."
I'll admit, though, in X-Assault, that special event where the Fury shows up and instantly takes him down to 1% health WAS pretty realistic. And cool.

Gladiator = The Little Engine That Could
he has the power of
"I think I can, I think I can...."
thus proving the motivational powers of Tony Roberts.

They accaully droped the ball on that episode. Think about it! Juggernaut takes a punch at Gladiator and Gladiator doesn't budge, then he takes Juggernaut and throws him like 50 miles into the sea. Then on the next episode Rogue (who lifts 75 tons if that) Punches Gladiator across the room smaking him into a wall.
Now maybe if she wouldve obsorbed his powers first fine. Otherwise no!!! The writter must've had a deadline and forgot to do there homework on that one.
I wouldn't mind seing these two go at it but sadly with todays comicbook version of Juggernaut, aka "Juggernot", aka the friend ghost it wouldn't be much of a fight.......

how is that realistic, when Juggs can only be hurt by Psychic and Magical attacks. Did fury get an upgrade to include either one of those?

Edit: misread the post.
Nimrod used unconventional attacks that aren't designed to hurt, only to disorient. Since his attacks weren't designed to hurt, he could bypass Juggernaut's forcefield (ie, when he made Juggy dizzy, something Jubilee can do as well).
Fury is a reality warper who destroyed one Marvel Earth along with their universe. It took nothing short of Rachel Gray to stop a weakened version of the Fury.
