Another absolute beauty of a Mignola BPRD cover! I'm only saddened by the fact that this will be the last one for a bit. Every month I look forward to someone scooping the next in the series of covers for BPRD, but I guess that game will have to be put on hold for a bit while the next series is put together. :D

Ok I dig it! I own them all, and I have read them all. But came someone explain to me what happened to Roger in The Black Flame? I don't even think I understand what he is?! I feel stupid asking this...so please be gentle.

O.O man, that is SO awesome.
Can someone point me to the covers of 3+4? (What happened to them anyway? I did a search and they aren't posted anywhere... That I saw at least...)

Essentially Roger is a Hommonculus, which is (as Mike explained in the wonderful Wake the Devil mini-series), an artificial man created by mixing horse manure, various roots, and a bit of alchemy together, stewing them in a pot, and somehow creating a "man" from all this. Roger was discovered in a long forgotten basement in a castle somewhere in Europe by the BPRD. Upon his "awakening" by Liz, he went kind of nuts and killed someone (Bud Waller). I'll spare you the rest of the details as these stories can be found in various HB TPB's (Wake the Devil and Chained Coffin and Others).
As far as what happened to Roger in Black Flame? Well, as the story was told, it appears he done got himself blowed up real good. :) Universal Machine is hopefully going to explain where we go from here with the character, however, I'm not holding my breath that we'll see him "alive" again anytime soon.
IMO that's actually kind of a good thing, as some characters serve a better narrative purpose as martyrs than they did alive and walking around. I see Roger as someone who can add more to the plot of the book "dead" (at this point) than alive. I could be wrong though, but only time will tell.

I don't know how I missed "horse manure". Every time they said Hommonculus it got a little more irritating. Thanks!

One of Mike's best Hellboy mini's IMHO! Glad you finally got around to reading it Bandit. :D
