So. .

because what company I work for, we got a free screening today :)

MUCH better than I feared it was going to be based on the previews I had seen.

basically, the film tells the story of how RJ first meets up w/ Verne and the rest of the gang.

the voice work is top notch (w/ Bruce Willis as RJ, Garry Shandling as Verne, Wanda Sykes stealing the film as Stella the Skunk, and Steve Carell excellent as the hyper squirrel).

It does drag a bit, and some of the gags fall a bit flat, but they hit it out of the park w/ a great bit involving a laser pointer (don't want to spoil it), and a chase scene involving a rotwiller -- that is classic in the way the seagulls' "Mine" scenes were in "Finding Nemo".

Overall, it's an enjoyable film, that I'd give 3 1/2 (out of 5) stars to.

be sure to stay until the end of the credits. . there's a cute post credits scene.

I'm surprised nobody else is talking about this movie.. I thought it was fricking hilarious all the way through, and also quite touching at many points.

One of my favorite scenes was when Hammy finally drinks some caffeine and all of a sudden he's so fast, time is frozen in his perspective, to the point where laser beams crawl compared to him.

I also liked the touching scene where RJ finally gets accepted and is given a "home" of his own... ...Right before he watches some shows forcing him to confront the fact he knows he's trying to cheat them, causing some really strong guilt in him..

...I could totally see this get developped into a cartoon series. What did you guys think?

I dunno why no one's talking about it either.

I posted this thread over two weeks ago, and despite a few views, no responses.

I thought it was well done, and enjoyable.

Any one seen this yet? I saw a good pirate copy of it yesterday and it warrants a cinema viewing. Like most animation these days its kiddie and adult orientated, but it is laugh out loud funny. Hammy the Squirrel is Fantastic:eek:
