Poll: What's your favorite Mutant Power Signature?

Why?

I was thinking about Pete Wisdom's psychic Knives out of his fingers, and it got me thinking of unique power sigs that characters have. I think my fave was/is/will always be Karma's. I just always thought they were a great visual. From the get go I lurved them and her. I wish they used her more.

Hard to say. Technically, Wolverine's "SNIKT" could be counted as a power signature...it's an incidental audio, visual or aural component that occurs when he triggers his claws. I would go with that.

Also good: Cyclops' "Zark" or Gambit's charged playing cards, which suddenly look very menacing.

I've always loved the butterfly effect of Psylocke's psychic powers, in fact, talking about it, makes me want her to get her telepathy back that much more now.

Aesthetically i loved Fixxs power from X-Factor. I have no comics to provide an image...but it looked like loads of fairys/butterflies coming out of her head...if anyone could provide an image id appreciate it.

I can't decide, but I'll nominate a few worth mentioning. The New Mutants really had some of the best:



-Sunspot's black bubbles. I can just hear him sizzling, popping, and cracking.

-Cannonball's rocket blast--I know we've all imagined the sound.

-Warlock's T-O. I just love it when he infects someone/something and drains their lifeforce.

-Illyana's stepping disks. I love the idea of just suddenly dropping through a bright, glowing hole.

-Magma's fire-form. I love the red squiggly lines.

-Karma's crowns, as previously mentioned. I don't think they'd look right in reality, but I love them on the comic page.

-Bamfing RULES!

-PROTEUS!!!

-Havok's radiating waves are awesome. I can totally imagine how they'd look in reality.

-Banshee's power signature isn't that impressive-looking, but I do love it when they draw him really straining as he screams. (Wow, I'm really focusing on the sound of energy sigs here, aren't I?)

-Bobby's ice is always fun and allows for so much variety. The ice-slide is brilliant, but I also like when he adds tons of ice to his body, making him look massive.

-Blink's is freaky.

-I like that the Vanisher doesn't have any power signature. Just *blip* and he's gone.

-Of course the Phoenix raptor is a classic.

-Same goes for Betsy's butterfly. I'd like to see it come back, but with a twist.

-I like Magneto's waves, and thought they did a good job showing them in X1 & X2.

-Professor X easily has some of the coolest power signatures. His are so varied: astral projection, mental blasts, telepathy, etc. I guess most of them wouldn't actually be visible beyond the comic page, though.

-Elias Bogan's "tears" are really distinctive. I like that he leaves his mark on his victims.

-Hot knives are cool. I like that they change direction.

-Speaking of changing direction in mid-air, that's what makes Jubes' fireworks cool. They're not just little explosions; they're plasmoids with varying shapes that respond to her commands. Eventually, I'd like to see her commanding them to move independently and do much of her fighting for her.

-Longshot's glowing eye is so simple, it works perfectly. And here I go again with my fascination with sound, but I always imagined his glow giving off an audible "ZING!" when it sparks.

-Gateway's is awesome.

-Bishop doesn't have a recognizable energy signature, which I think is a mistake. Someone should design something distinctive for him.

-Spiral, too. She needs something REALLY distinctive and twisted-looking for her magicks.

Kurt's "Bamf!" is the all-time classic, but I'm also fond of Havok's circles and Synch's rainbow effect. And obviously, Longshot's glowing eye is a particular favorite of mine.

And it's auditory rather than a visible power signature, but I liked how Madrox always used to make that "POK!" noise when he'd pop out a dupe.

Rather good poll and question,i decided to go with Other.Since i prefer Wolverine`s "SNIKT".Another choice is Havok`s circles,and Nightcrawler`s BAMF.

This reminds me of a battle between Cyclops and Havoc (At a time when Havoc was a brainwashed soldier of some sort in Genosha.) When Havoc knocks him down with his power sig,Cyke counters with an Optic Blast that shined a red light on everything in the panel. Awsome display of both mutants power sigs.

There's really one for me and it's the Phoenix Effect. Another I've always liked is Cyclops visor in a dark room. The lil red line and then the spark at the end. You just know it's gonna be a bad day for the guy on the end of it.

I like how no matter which way you look at him, Havok gives off a perfectly circular glow. Like a flash effect hitting a camera lens. No other character has an effect like it.

I know Longshot came first, but I tend to associate the yellow glowing eye thing with Cable. That was a cool power signature, cause it added to the menacing look of the character.

While we're on the eye theme, Gambit's red & black eyes. I suppose his are naturally like that and don't exhibit any change even when he uses his powers, but hell, they're cool.

Also, how Storm's pupils disappear whenever she uses her powers. I've always known she had that ability (supposedly to protect her own eyes as a side effect of her mutation, I recall reading somewhere long ago), but seeing it in the movie so many times makes me realise it gives her a really commanding and scary look, in-fitting with her goddess image.

The Davis redesign for the Phoenix manifestion is really inspiring... I'm kinda shocked it ranked so low, probably the most complex and visually exciting power signature out there.

I also liked Portacio's pink tk bubbles for Jean though. Never really cared for the Pheonix tatoo thing on either of them, but Davis did some nice work with it on occasion (like when Rachel altered everyone's perceptions in the bar after X-23 escaped). Anything even remotely related to the crimson Dawn is probably better left forgotten though. ;)

Pulse's glowing eyes. I'm enamored!
Scan-Scan's astral projections (I think I like pink best) as well as Trance's (blue)
And I love Sunspot's energy bod.

I like Betsy's psychic butterflies, knives, and swords.

And I like Jean Grey's Phoenix Raptor (fiery or pink afterall in her original Phoenix years and during Revolution and Morrison's run it was sometimes pink and sometimes fiery).

I also like Jean's golden fiery glow that she sometimes had under Claremont and Morrison (Planet X and Here Comes Tomorrow).

And I liked the Phoenix Eye Symbol when it was Jean Grey's astral power signature during Revolution.

Definitely pink! Darn, so many mentions of Jean remind me of how cool it was when the creators just let Jean be Jean (X-Factor and early return to X-Men). I think it's tragic that her personality seems to get subsumed to making the Phoenix concept a big focus. Boo! Hiss! :(

A lot of cool power signatures have been mentioned, but I think the one that I always found the most awesome was Jean Grey's green circles that she had early in Ultimate X-Men. Those were so cool looking.
