Just want to pass on the sad news of the passing away of Alex Toth. We lost another 'giant' of the medium that we love so dearly call comics.

Rest in peace.

Best wishes to the Toth family.

I think him passing doing what he loved is very touching.

A great polish philosopher said something we tend to say now in such sad ocasions:
"go forth, and love people,
they tend to leave so soon.."
Rest in piece mr. Toth

Mr. Toth was a true influence to generations to come and it is evident in so many contemporary cartoons of today. A lot of them are homages or even comical pastiche of his work, but it is all done lovingly in honor of his hard-boiled, pulpy and heroic style.

I don't know what my childhood would have been like without Jonny Quest around to bring such exotic adventures into my life and probably help mould a lot of my ongoing fasciation with adventure and horror stories. And I don't know what Jonny Quest would have been like without Alex's designs.

Now he's on his ultimate adventure and passed away doing what he loves. Have a great voyage Mr. Toth, you'll be missed.

This is a line from a movie, so please forgive me. When a person died the Greeks used to ask only one question; did he/she live with passion? I'd say that living with passion pretty much describes the career of Alex Toth.

Although I didn't discover Toth until quite late in my comics collecting life, I can certainly appreciate the obvious talent and drive that he brought to his work always.

Bless you Alex Toth and thank you for bringing your essence to this art form that I so love.

There's a nice tribute thread going on The Drawing Board with lots of Toth art!

Thanks for the link hellboyone. The thing was- Alex Toth did not realise how many fans/admirerers/students of his art he has out there in the field until his last days.
