I found this character very interesting. From his scary power levels to the fact his own mother was obviosuly prejudiced against mutants. But there are some questions that i would like explored in a book
Does anyone know if this character has been depowered?
Who is Carters father? I think this is an oppurtunity for it to be someone very interesting...maybe Magneto...the shadow king in a host body....who knows...
Just how powerful is he?

I wish Austen would have killed him and Annie before he left, instead of Sammy. :(
I hope that he never turns up in the books again, especially considering Austen's plans for him to have been yet another bastard child of Magneto's, and being manipulated by Cassandra Nova. Gag.

The one good thing to come out of Austens freeway pileup massacre inferno of a run.
Until he he killed him. He sucks for this too.

I ditto the agreement! Carter seemed like another young mutant with the "potential" for being way too powerful. I'd rather not see another one of those, their potential never gets realized....plus, I like mutants better that have powers that are more specified.....
....Sammy's powers were cool because they were distinct.....Carter's was another telepath/telekinetic.... zzzzzzz...

That arc was worse because Juggernaut was the stupidest mofo ever in that one.
Okay....Nocturne is with the brother hood...wait....nocturne is good....maybe ill form a plan with her,.....hope she isnt actually bad or my plan will blow up in my face.......okay....okay she is good....so instead of letting her piggy back on my plan ill expose her as having been good and fake kill her.....despite the fact taht Sabretooth will probably still hear her heartbeating, Exodus is a telepath and im sure someone will check to make sure the body is actually dead....oh snap...fishface!

I think Carter could have been an interesting character if handled differently (like a lot of things in Austen's run). Just look at his role in Alex and Annie's relationship. This powerful little kid was secretly playing with the minds and emotions of his own mother and another man, in essence "making" them fall in love; but instead of being horrified, their reaction was, "Oh, you little scamp!" It was creepy, and it sets a bad example by letting Carter think that he can do whatever he wants with his telepathy if he thinks he knows what's right for someone else.
If there had been some kind of negative fallout, like Alex and Annie wondering if their feelings for each other were even real or a product of a child's desperate need for a father, an interesting, complex little story might have played out. Instead, Alex swapped spit with Annie at the Eiffel Tower immediately after dumping his fiancee at the alter.

Sammy Pare was the one of the only things about Austen's run that I thought added to the canon that is the X-men. I am still upset that he was wasted like that. such a loss. such wasted potential.
Carter as the evil foster kid woulda been a cool story, but austen shipped him off too. I say his dad was Shadow King.
Chuck Austen intended for Nurse Annie's son, Carter, to be the child of Magneto. As if Lorna Dane & Zaladane (a needless addition) along with the Quicksilver & Scarlet Witch isn't enough...
I hated both Carter & Nurse Annie because they did not make any sense in the X-Men canon. Austen just shoved these characters on with little or no idea what to do with them. The fact he made Polaris insane did not help him either...

I thought Carter was a very interesting plot device, sorta like a Layla Miller but not as cool... and he reminded me a lot of Franklin Richards in terms of powersets, but not much in personality. I didn't really care for him, or his moms.

I thought there was alot of potential for him to be the bad seed. He saved Havok's life, but was "infected" by that evil that was holding him. Woulda been cool to see Havok struggle with his loyalties and with Annie over this super powerful kid that was just going bad. kinda like Cable did with Tyler.

I'm ashamed to admit i actually thought Annie was OK aswell.
It was good to see a new character in the core books who WASN'T a mutant. There used to be a few back on those halcyon days of CC, but they all seem to have been killed or forgotten about.
(I hereby start the campaign for bringing back Stevie Hunter!!! Unless she's dead. She's not is she?!!)
Her situation with Alex was interesting too. It was just executed really poorly.
Although having said that she was a right bitch to Chamber. MUTANTS HAVE FEELINGS TOO!!!

Plus i have trouble believing an adult would go by that

The whole interesting thin about Annie was that she represented most huamns. She wasnt out and out hateful of mutants but had had grown up in a society that told her to distrust them and fear them...hence why subconciously her behaviour led her to act badly to people who were obviously mutants e.g. kurt and jono....

Annie was a good idea used at the wrong time. Austen had way too much going on during his run.

Nurse Annie came from his wife. Carter's name came from his son.

I rarely like character's made that are 10, 11, 12...they will NEVER grow up in Marvel time, really. Look at Franklin Richards, or Artie, or Leech. The 14ish New Mutants grew up and I love a lot of them, Kitty grew up and she's okay...it's quite annoying to see kids as kids always, though.

Are you kidding...Franklin is the only character you can use to argue marvel time is flowing...hence that he is no longer a baby. we should see him kick the next age bracket soon...get him to fourteen and send him to new xmen...the fans will love it.

I mean, he's growing, but he'll never grow up really like the New Mutants have, because that makes Sue x amount of years older than when she had him, which gives us a timeline for everything else, even if its incredibly rough. And he's not the ONLY character who shows time flows...Kitty is 19ish now, as is Husk, and the New Mutants and X-Force have grown up, Cannonball is playing with the big boys. Carter, however, would probably NEVER grow up, IMO.

If you look at the earlier appearances of Carter when hes in the hospital he looks far more like hes 13/14 than 9/10 like he does in his later appearances.

Carter was to grow to become the greatest villian in the history of the X-men. Only Sammy's pure heart and indomitable spirit could counter him. They would battle over space/time/multi-verse is breakdancing combat searching for the Anti-Life Equation.
Whiz Kid, Artie and Leech would also be prominantely featured.

I just hope someone brings Carter back later in his life and he becomes one fo the most feared mutants.
Then Marvel can do a really bad story like where all the generic TP/TK character have a big battle between themselves and they all kill each other except Rachel.

Carter was planned to be another child of Magneto. They were dropping hints that he was gonna be a POWERFUL mutant. The right writer could really do a good story with the charactor and have someone who could become the greatest Mutant the world has ever known....or someone who could destroy it all if he turns evil.

They could easily do a 'force' like story in that they argue these telepaths/telekinetics all have to share the astral plane and therefore the more of them there are the less power there is between all of them. After recieving a significant power boost from Xaviers depowering Carter decides to take down all the other psychics to get all the power...hopefully by the end we could just have Emma Frost, Psylocke and Rachel Grey...all the other psychics killed by Carter.
