X-Cron I: Mutants Take Manhattan

Heya, gang. Just got home from the first official X-Cres Con this morning at 7, still not entirely lucid, but a few hours sleep later I thought I'd make the initial status report, which the others can supplement at their convenience. (I understand tonight is karaoke night... New York, beware.) Didn't know if it merited it's own thread, so the Croninator can feel free to fold this into X-Cres proper if necessary. Initial impressions:

-Mattbib can still not only keep up but surpass the drinking pace of the rest of us. Even if he IS unwise to issue challenges to people 8 years his junior for the next time they meet.
-Liz and Beth are both immense fun to hang out with, also able to maintain the pace (both in boozing and just walking), and easily two of the most attractive comic-reading women alive right now; if they ever deign to reply to a post of yours, get down on your knees and thank whatever deity you worship. (It's okay, I'm married... I can say stuff like that and not be creepy.)
-Brian Cronin has the great consideration to keep his mad mod powers hidden, coming across as a very approachable, easy-to-talk-with person instead of the demigod we all know he is. That's class.
-Matt's friend Sean is likewise awesome and really should be posting here, even if he hasn't read an X-Men issue past 202. Also, I still owe him money for the refreshments.
-Dan (Veggie Goat) is cool, it's just a shame he couldn't hang with us longer. Next time, buddy.
-UTVol is impossible to understand over the phone inside a crowded bar; outside, he'd much rather talk to the pretty girl than you. Weird.
-We can all still pull an all-nighter. Go us! Captain Morgan and Coke helps.
-My distaste for Kid Omega aside, Matt's custom "Magneto Was Right" shirt did indeed look killer, rivaled only by the "Xavier Baseball League" shirt sported in style by Jean "The Marvel Girl" Grey. (And apologies to Liz, but never before have I seen a woman so proudly thrust her chest forward when asked what her shirt said.) ;)
-Ghost Rider, if the plotline is 1/10 as cool as the special effects, is going to kick soooooo much ass.
-In X3, we all agreed- the best parts were Kelsey Grammer kicking ass and Kitty Pryde taking on the Juggernaut. Dickhead.
-We also understood that the script made it impossible, but if they do make another movie, they HAVE to have Scott, Jean, Bobby, Warren, and Hank go into action together at one point, because it would kick more ass than anything in the history of the universe.

I'll add more if/when I start to regain more memories of the stuff we did... like I said, hopefully the others will jump in (and add pictures!) as the opportunity arises. Me, I'm off to make up for ditching my wife on Friday night by pampering her all day. Later!

I went to the theatre to say hello at 9 pm and went looking for everyone. My experience from earlier in the day showed that they would let people in about an hour prior to movie time. Didn't see anyone, searched around for about half an hour (even went to Forbidden Planet across the street!) and finally decided, yknow, I did my part. Didn't want to see the movie again - disappointment was preventing me.

Mattbib finally called short of an hour after I got home, and didn't message me again until 1:30. At that point, I was in for the night.


Glad you had fun, but sorry I missed you guys. I certainly tried!

Dude! I wish i could've stayed. I think i made the right decision, but it sucks that i had to miss out on all the fun. There'll be other X-Cres outings, and plenty more chances for alcohol. :)

I only got to really interact with the gang what went drinkin' afterwards, but everyone was nice folk.

Mattbib is very well-spoken, and manages to wear a "Magneto Was Right" T-shirt with dignity. Not an easy feat.

The Lucky One enjoys his alcohol.

Liz/jeangreydp and Beth/don'tknowherusername are two awesome geek girls, and a credit to the fine city of St. Louis. (Such language, though!) Liz, next time you come to New York, you ain't leavin' without a tattoo.

Veggie Goat seems like a pleasant fellow, although we didn't really talk much.

Brian Cronin was his usual self.

Jeff Brady, as usual, managed to divert the attention of all lovely ladies in the area from me unto himself. In spite of this, I can't bring myself to hate him, because he's so dreamy.

I didn't get to hang out last night but I just had lunch with Mattbib and his friend Sean (Shaun?). I made the Mattbib buy leather flipflops at Banana Republic. We talked about our X3 disappoinments (okay, me mostly with the griping), but Mattbib's friend was so chatty I barely got to talk to Matt! :(

oh god i made it back to stl and still haven't slept. when liz and i were strolling in Times Square at 3:30 this morning, I wasn't sure it would happen.
