*SIGH*... Okay, almost every new picture posted has me chiming in with how I want to try inking and coloring it. Well, I finally decided to put up or shut up, as it's said, so below is my attempt at "inking" The current SUPERMAN post pic.

The colors are kinda dark, but that's by choice. My all time favorite rendition of the Man of Steel was in the 1940's Fleischer cartoons, and I love the deep reds and blues they used. I don't think I got them QUITE right, but that's why the colors are darker than usual.
That, and it covers up my so-called inks. Yeesh, I need more practice at inking. Working on my own stuff most of the time gives me artistic tunnel vision and I try to step outside and ink someone elses work from time to time as an exercise. Since Mike's linework is so precise and clean, it gives me MUCH less wiggle room, but all-in-all I don't think it's too bad.

No problem, and thanks for the kind words.
I'll say this, though... It took SUPREME effort on my part to no try and tweak the "S" shield. For some crazy reason, I'm SO ANAL about Superman's "S". As infinite Crisis was going on, everyone I knew was loving on the Jim Lee covers, and I was constantly complaining that while they looked great, he drew all the different Supermen and Boys with the SAME "S" on their chests.
I need therapy.

AMAZING work, Derrick. The darker colors were the right way to go.
By thy side,

You could have felt free to correct the 'S' on his chest, Derrick..... I didn't know that I got it that wrong. I'll have to look at a SUPERMAN comic to see how off I was.:D

That's all done in Photoshop with my Wacom tablet.

Sweet! I need to get more control like that with my tablet :) Any pointers?

The only pointer I can give is the ever depressing: "Practice".
I started just coloring with my tablet, which helped work up my hand/eye coordination and started drawing directly digital with my first online comic strip back in 2001. Doing a strip every day forced my to get the feel for it rather quickly.

Man, I can't believe that I've been on CBR this long and I've never been on this forum. Wieringo's art is awesome!
Anyway, I hope I don't look stupid for asking, but is Wieringo going to be doing Superman comics any time soon? I have to say this is one of the best I've seen in a while. I'm not kidding.:D
