I was wondering if having a consistent art team on a book affects your buying a book, and I'm not talking about an artist that you like just one consistent look through evey issue and not having five different artist in ten issues.

I always thought that one thing that hurt Austen's Uncanny run was every couple of issues there was a new artist and not necessarily a good one. Also on New Mutants and then New X-Men: Academy X. I can't help but think that a good artist on these books and the same artist would have helped sales alot.

Also this is not thread to judge the writing of these two books just merely the art and how the artist were handled on the books.

If they're really good, I don't care. Jae Lee did a random issue of the Hulk recently and it was awesome. I didn't care if it didn't look like the other artists in recent issues.

In contrast, I guess, there was a guest artist on Daredevil for a couple of issues during the Bendis-Alex Maleev run. One, I didn't think he was very good, and two, he was so different from Maleev that it was pretty jarring.

Back in the days of Warlock and the Infinity Watch, in the first 16 or so issues they had Angel Medina for two issues, then Tom Raney for two issues, then Medina, then Raney, etc. They were both really good and so I didn't mind the switch. Then they stuck in someone else entirely on issue, I believe, 11 or 12, and he wasn't very good, and so the issue wasn't either.

I don't mind the inconsistency if they're good.

Usually, I don't mind, but there have been a few times when it hurt my enthusiasm for the title. The most recent example I can think of was during the Jurgens run on Thor. There was a period of time, maybe around the lengthy Spiral storyline when the artwork veered to some wild extremes, including a big-eyed manga style that I felt was very inappropriate for norse mythology. I was also frustrated that Jurgens wasn't drawing Thor himself, as he is a capable artist. So I dropped Thor specifically because of the inconsistent art teams.
