I remember an issue of maybe Spider-Man (EDIT: Spectacular Spider-Man (v.2) #91: http://www.newkadia.com/Covers/L/S/Spectacular%20Spider-Man%201976%20series/SpectacularSpider-man91.jpg) where Unus was making money working at a circus, and loses control of his powers and dies. His best friend, Blob, is distrauht and goes on a grief fueled rampage. Flash forwad 15 - 20 years, and I find he's still alive and living on Genosha, but now will lmaybe dies.

When was his "death" retconned or was it ever explained where he's been in the time between his "death" and his appearence on Genosha.

It never was officially retconned, that I can actually recall. Grant Morrison just had him turn up alive on Genosha in an issue of New X-Men, after Cassandra Nova destroyed the island. They no-prized it by saying that Blob only believed that Unus had died, that when he passed out his powers cut off.

I believe it was retconned during Morrison's run, because of the issue when Polaris comes back, Unus and a bunch of other mutants are there. Also, are you a Janet Jackson fan? I only ask because 20yrslater is the name of her upcoming c.d.(god, not only am i comic she-nerd, I'm also a music loser:p)

Um, without showing an disrepect for Ms Jackson (I have to call her that, you know, 'cause I'm nasty), NO FREAKIN' WAY!

No, the 20yrslater refers to the fact that, out of the blue, my step-father dropped off a couple of random boxes of comics at my house about one week before IC launched, and they just happened to have all 12 (plus the index) issues of the original COIE. That freaky coincidence prompted me to buy IC, the first comics I've bought in over 15 years, and start posting here. COIE had a big effect on me as a comic reader, and I don't believe in coincidences of that nature.

You know, this is a retcon that annoys me. I mean, not really a HUGE impact, but still, it's just a weird one. Unus remains dead to me.

just one of the stoopid pieces of Morrison's run. why bring back a long-dead (or thought dead) villain that had low fan-interest to begin with & then *totally* not even use said villian??

i think it was more ignorance of his current state than actually bringing him back from the dead.

I despise all of you who say Unus is lame. He rocks! In fact, we should demand more screen time for him. And a solo ongoing. Anything to make my X-Men #8 worth more, dammit! I mean, uh, because forcefields are teh kewl!

Yeah, I liked him in that. The big foil he always had the potential to be, but never got to be. Shame House of M torpedoed all of that. Ah well. :(
