I want to get into reading The Incredible Hulk. I have been looking into the many Hulk battles and the What If's. Getting to the point I want to get your opinion on what the best series or arc is. Any where you suggest I start.

have read a lot (i think a lot, don't know how many he wrote) of the Peter David issues. great great great reading. and if you like those, you will LOVE Future Imperfect, a 2 issue mini-series about the Hulk going into the Future.
can't really say if i like the recent'er Hulk issues or not, as i haven't given them a good long read

Start with Hulk issue #92 now in stores if you can find it. It is the first issue of "Planet Hulk." #93 and #94 are out too. It is really great so far! It is going to be a big story, about 14 issues or so.
What happened is some heroes in Marvel sent Hulk to an alien planet so that he wouldn't destroy Earth anymore, and the planet he landed on is cruel and forces him to fight as a gladiator among powerful alien beasts!

Never mind that he's helped save it countless times, and those "heroes" knew it better than anybody.

Actually the perks ain't so bad in the gladiator biz. After one of the recent battles the Hulk gets two lovely ladies all for himself to retire with.

Ground Zero by PAD and Todd McFarlane is probably the best, but I'll always have a soft spot for Byrne's original 6 issue run that was cut way too short by Shooter-itis. It could have been INCREDIBLE!
Future Imperfect is another great story.
The biggest thing that keeps the Dale Keown drawn issues from being "the best run" is that there wasn't a defining story arc that stands out.

Besides Ground Zero, a great story arc, some of Peter David's finest moments on the Hulk can be found in #351-367, with Jeff Purves and in #403-417, with Gary Frank.

I don't know, the whole transition into the Merged Hulk works pretty well as an arc.

Everything that Peter David wrote which was drawn by Jeff Purves (Mr. Fixit!), Dale Keown and Gary Frank (Pantheon oh how I miss thee!).

The Hulk Visionaries: Peter David trades are a great place to start. I know there are 2 out now and I think the 3rd is coming soon or just came out. Those give you some great stories including the whole Ground Zero storyline.

Not so much they sent him to another planet, they did so that he'd be left alone and not angered. The planet he was suppose to be sent to was peaceful. Yet they didn't count on Hulk getting angry, smashing up the controls and throwing the ships course off. Thus begins the series. It's not like they were being cruel to him, just stuck between a rock and a hard place and want what was best for Earth and the Hulk. Just all back fired.
Just know there will be hell to pay when he comes back and I can't wait for that. hehe
So far the Planet Hulk series is shaping up pretty well.

I enjoyed some of Bruce Jones' work on The Incredible Hulk.
Even though it was often a bit slow paced.

I got a soft spot for Hulk 166 and up as that was when I was a wee sprout and just started collecting :o

Future Imperfect by far. "The End" wasn't bad either. Hulk 377 to about 400.
Don't remember the issue numbers, but I liked the return of the savage hulk after the secret wars as well.

I like that gray era from the 80s, i know people hate that because the Hulk shold be big green and extremly stupid, but i'm tired of that verson.

The series was at its best when Peter David was collaborating with Dale Keown and then Gary Frank. This corresponds to about #368-425.
The next best are the issues by Herb Trimpe and either Roy Thomas or Archie Goodwin, especially the issues with John Severin as inker. This includes roughly the #120s to the #140s.
