While at the conventions I do a lot of sketches that don't see print anywhere! They are drawn on the spot and whisked away to a private collection. I love it that these pieces are given a loving home, but they also need to be shared and enjoyed by everyone!
THAT'S WHAT THIS POST IS ALL ABOUT!
Every two weeks I"ll update the link below to display a different convention drawing! If you have one of my convention sketches, or even a full blown commission, send me a scan and I'll be sure share!

Last week I was attended the always fun Motor City Convention in Novi MI. This year the convention was filled with Bat-fans as the guest list for the show included: Adam West, Burt Ward, Yvonne Craig, Julie Newmar and more! Keeping with the bat-theme I was asked by a fan for a drawing of Nightwing.

Nightwing is a character that took me a little while to warm up to.. I'm a huge Robin and Dick Grayson fan, but Nightwing didn't seem to really fit in the Batman world too well for me.. ( And I didn't read the Teen Titans.).. Then all at once I got Nightwing thanks to the Batman Advs cartoon. The scenes of the Three generations of heroes Batman, Nightwing, Robin. Batman has solved the crime in his head but asks Nightwing and Robin their thoughts before giving the answer.. Robin goes first and Nightwing fills in the parts that were unaccounted for... Finally Batman explains how both of their reasoning is sound.. but wrong... I swear, how many times have I read progression?!

Robin is so young and has so much to learn that he looks up to Nightwing.
Batman Uses Nightwing to relate to the new young Robin. I wasn't crazy for the "Hush" storyline in Batman, but I very much enjoyed reading Batman's thoughts regarding Nightwing in action. Batman believes that Nightwing may be better at the superhero role than he is due to the fact that Nightwing likes himself, and works better with people... A hard pill to swallow, eh Batman..?

what does all that have to do with this drawing..? hhhmmmm.. not much I guess except that I found a way to enjoy Nightwing as a character, and that always make the drawing easier and better!... ENJOY!

I'd love to color the Nightwing. The lighting on it would be alot of fun... The trick about coloring that piece is that I actually don't have a scan!.. The posting here is a pic from my digial camera!!! Somewhere out there someone is reading this with that Nightwing drawing on their wall..

HEY MAN.. SEND ME A SCAN!.. We all want to see this bad boy in color!
.. hm.. I wonder how big a book I'd have if I gathered up all of my Batman related drawings...
