...or just a typographical error?

Issue 3 of "52", in the "History of the DC Universe" feature contains these captions:

"On Earth-Two, Superman's familiar colors were not seen until he was an adult."

"On Earth-One, he made the public aware of his existence while he was a boy."

These in a panel showing Superboy and Krypto, Pre-Crisis (on Infinite Earths) style renderings.

At the bottom of the same page, it is established that Earth-One was the original abode of the JLA while Earth-Two produced the JSA.

So, either the captions re Superboy are "backwards" or the new reality (i.e., post-Infinite Crisis) includes a Superboy growing up to be Superman. I know which one I hope to be the case, but what do others think? Am I over-thinking this?

Well, judging from last week's issue of 52, they depicted the origin story of the Pre-Crisis Superman.....so maybe this is all before the re-adjustment caused by Crisis on Infinite Earths.

Basically, they're saying that Pre-Crisis Superman did exist in this post-IC world.

Yeah they are still telling you about pre-crisis superboy.

Although in Infinte crisis #7 Alex comments that in "New Earth" one of the changes was that Superman was seen BEFORE he arrived in Metropolis. So the first thing I thought of was Superboy.

I'd be surprised if they bring back Pre-Krypto though.

I remember that statement in IC #7 as well, and I do think it is a marvelous idea to restore the idea of there having been a Superboy.

Superboy stories were wonderful because as a boy, Superman had a much better sense of play. Superboy used to chase comets with Krypto around the solar system, and fly to the other side of the universe thinking "I wonder what regular boys do for fun?"

SuperMAN, especially under a snappy New Yorker like Elliot S! Maggin, always had a wonderful sense of humor, but one can't imagine an adult Superman chasing comets with Krypto.

Indeed. Krypto should almost always be in Superboy stories.
