I interviewed at Hustler yesterday.

Yay!

But I found out they already offered the job to someone else.

Boo!

But they hadn't gotten any word back from the person, and they need to fill the job immediately, so if they don't call back, I've been told I'm in.

Yay!

But the pay sucks.

Boo!

But I just had an interview at a very succesful company that makes PC utilities.

Yay!

But I might be underqualified.

Boo!

But the person I interviewed with didn't mention anything about that. In fact, they train employees extensively for three months so they know the ins and outs about everything.

Yay!

These are the guys who do the training. (http://www.hubbardcollege.org/)

Guh?

Who cares about the pay? Being employed is better than being unemployed. You can always continue job hunting while you take a low paying job. It's work experience and getting paid is always a good thing.

What she said. Low pay is not only still pay, but it can also be great resume builder.

Job-hunting can be so time-consuming that doing so while employed is ... "challenging" isn't the word, but it can be slow going since you can't be out all the time interviewing during work hours.

Don't get me wrong, I'll take the job if it's offered. It just sucks that the pay is so low.

Full time.

Did they mention how much they charge for an E-Meter reading?
Hence the guh? Although from what I was told, apparently the same thing that get the religion rolling in dollars also makes a good business model. Take from that what you will. There's an odd sense of honesty to that though.

Folks, let this one hit you in waves. There's the surface humor, then there's the humor of taking the sentence literally.

I can't believe I never thought of putting XXX screenshot watermarks on my resumes. GENIUS!

Yikes. Don't drink the water.
Have you never wondered why I drink only distilled water, or rain water, and only pure-grain alcohol? Have you ever heard of a thing called fluoridation. Fluoridation of water? Do you realize that fluoridation is the most monstrously conceived and dangerous Communist plot we have ever had to face?

Yeah, porn looks great on a resume.
I heard from a friend in the design field that also work in the porn industry, once you go into porn, there's no going back into regular design. I don't know how true that actually is, but like you say, porn looks real great on the resume.

If I really want to, I just put LFP Inc. down instead of Barely Legal Magazine. If this was just random porn mag, I might be having second thoughts, but this is a fairly major publication.

IMHO the Hustler Magazine work experience (IF you get the job) on your resume could become a liability in future interviews or maybe not it can be a good ice breaker in an interview. :D

Just out of curiousity what was the position you were interviewed for at Hustler?

If your ultimate career goal is to work in the porn industry, then you should take the job, if they offer it to you.

If not, then you shouldn't be applying to jobs for porno companies (even just to see if they would offer you a job-- it's a waste of time).

But the pay sucks.

This is becoming a problem in L.A., especially given the housing cost....

I've been considering moving back, however, if I stay in the same field, I'm looking at a salary cut of at least $15,000....that's a lot of shoes.....

I'm looking at a salary cut of at least $15,000...Jesus, that's insane. I know what you mean, though - I could move back to the east coast and save a fortune on housing, but my income would be cut by 30-40%, too.

Kraiser? Hard to read.

The lower one seems to definitely be Aurora.

I'm taking a $12,000 paycut with my fancy new masters degree.
