View Full Version : Censorship is it right?
In yet another example of how the High n Mighty WWE is insecure about it's fans and what they bring into the shows with them I found this,...Just a minute ago.
Jeff M. sent the following....I was the one at RAW last night holding the "WE'VE CENA NUFF" sign. About halfway through the Cena/Masters match,a WWE Security guy came and took the sign away stating: "It's an anti-Cena sign and we have to take it away".
One thing that ticks me off is censorship,...This is America you buy a ticket you should be able to voice your opinion at a wrestling show.....I can remember a few months ago when fans united in voicing their displeasure at WWE practices...Is it that time again?....Hmmm Makes ya wonder.....If your not a wrestling fan but still feel strongly about this then make your voice heard...Tell people about this and how you feel.

If that really happened, it sucks. It was a clever/funny sounding sign.
My favorite sign of all time was a fan sitting close to the front would hold up a sign that looked like a fast forward button ">>" whenever Vince was in the ring talking, or anything else that sucked. It was great.

i dont like it either, the signs depend on the Arena though. I was at Backlash last month, all my signs made it in. Somone had a DIE CENA DIE sign that made it, the next night I was at RAW and my Cena sign didnt make it in because it was too big(then i saw somone who had the same size sign as me) pissed me off, also my sign was PRO cena. One kid i came with had a Cena Sucks sign and it got taken. I think its stupid though. A few years ago you could bring in just about anything short of "OWEN GOT WHAT HE DESERVED" Sign and it would be cool.

That isn't censorship.
Only the government can censor things. The WWE is not the government, and the private sports facility they rented for their TV broadcast is not public land. Our right to free speech is not an issue in this case. You enter into an agreement when you buy your ticket that limits your expression during the event (notably your right to bare arms is also limited)
ps.
DanH, try getting a "Sting Sucks" sign into the Impact! Zone. I'd love to hear how that goes off.

I'll lay you 2-1 odds that somewhere on your ticket it said something to the effect that the arena reserved the right to remove signs indescriminatly.

Doesn't sound like censorship to me. For any number of reasons, the event organizers didn't want that sign there. It sucks, but not censorship.

Maybe they got rid of the sign because it had a stick or post to hold it up. I saw a few "Gabba Gabba Hey" signs confiscated at a couple of Ramones concerts I went to because the bouncers said people could pull the stick off the poster and start beating folks with it.

I was at the show right after the original HHH Steph wedding was announced. I brought in a sign that said "McMahon Pimps His Daughter." It made the cameraman laugh, although he didn't film it.

The best sign I've seen that actually made it to air was, "We've Seen Lita Wrestle, I Wanna See Her Box!"
