Mike is a good friend, and I give him a hard time just as a joke.

But, in truth, I consider Mike one of the best artists out there.
I hold both his art, and him personally in very high regard.

Why does my opinion deserve a thread of its own?
And why would anyone care about what I have to say?
Because I say so, that's why!
...and... well... I'm kinda lonely and want attention.

Anyway, I never understood why this forum isn't always hoppin' with discussion of Mike's art.
You all should tell people to get over to this forum and start talkin' about Mike, and just art in general.

I consider Mike to be a true illustrator. He's a very well rounded artist who really pulls from the imagination of his mind and makes anything come to life.
I so wish I had a taste of that talent.
He draws what I consider to be real comics!

Plus, he's not only talented, but he's a guy with both feet planted on the ground.
He's honest, hard working, and a guy you can count on when the chips are down. Talent isn't everything in my book.

If one day I ever became a writer of significance in comics (I can dream, can't I?), Mike is one of the guys on my "Work with list"
It's a pretty short list. I started compiling it during our MVCreations publishing days. You learn real fast who stands out. I'll post it one day on my own website featuring my colors, if I can ever get the thing off the ground. :D

It doesn't matter what Mike and I have done together in the past, or what we might do in the future.
I've always wanted to say something.
I felt it was about time.

I agree that this forum is sadly lacking in actual Wieringo-based topics compaired to what it should be. And keep us posted on the colors website.

I'm glad I had the chance to say this when Mike could see it.
I wish more people had had the opportunity to express their appreciation for Mike's efforts when he was around. I'm sure a great many people are regretting not doing so.

I never got the chance to work with Mike on a major project.
And the one time when we finally got paired up at Marvel, we lost him while he was pencilling it. :(

I'll always look to Mike as an inspiration.
I will miss him greatly.

If there is someone you admire and look to for your own inspiration, let them know how you feel. You never know if you'll have that chance again...

Looking at Wieringo art, I might have liked the 'toonish quality to it, but his was deeper. Some others had a similar style to him, but with his, I always 'felt' something more coming from the art. It must've been the goodness within him.
