The Justice League Unlimited comic is great. John Stewart & Vixen are the best in their cartoon incarnations. And I love Timm's shaggy-haired Ollie & Dinah. Did you know Vixen's grandfather was a middle-weight champ? What a difference losing that awful She-Wolverine haircut makes! Meow. Anybody else think it woulda been cool if Vixen had been the OYL Catwoman? Too Halle Berry, I guess.
Anywho, this is consistently a great, great book when its written & drawn by Adam Beechen & Carlo Barberi. The fill-ins have been the standard kiddie cartoon adaption stuff, but these two guys are real knockout talents and have truely been continuing the high standards set by the TV show.
They have a rare opportunity here, the show is over. And, by extention, the entirety of the Timm-verse that spans Batman & Superman the Animated Series to Batman Beyond (where Darwyn Cooke made a name for himself) and JLU itself. I know there's a lot of fans of this particular superhero universe, I think this book could keep it going for quite some time.
The latest issue shows that there's still a lot of unresolved issues between all these characters that can still be used to tell a damn fun story. I mean, a couple months back they did a JLU vs. Uncle Sam & The Freedom Fighters throwdown that was just awesome with a capital Aw. And don't get me started on that beautiful Superman meet's Space Cabbie, Superman's #1 Fan.
Seriously, this book is the nuts. It's not grim or gloomy or ladden with political subtext or anything, but it is very fun.
