Has anyone ever tried growing one? How long did it take you and how did you get the point on the beard? I always want to try but I don't have the patience for the growing period.

I've never grown a "green arrow" beard (though I do have a beard), but I'd imagine you can make the point with mustache wax (which is what you use to make a curly mustache)
A quick google search showed me that you can get it here (http://ebarbershop.com/ShopSite/moustache.html).

It took Green Arrow about 30 years to grow his:D

Thanks for the help. It is a sweet beard. I definitely prefer him with beard than without.

Yes the beard and the attitude was good for GA, i don't think he would have been popular without it.

The beard is fun (if a little impractical) but some artists seem unable to draw it or something because I swear sometimes it looks like it's trying to crawl off his face...

Yes, he occasionally has an alien parasite with tentacles hanging off his chin.

I love how people can look at bearded Oliver Queen and bearded Green Arrow and not make the connection. I mean, who else in the DCU has a beard like Ollie's? But, his beard rocks hard.

Which was a mistake, IMHO. Either these weak disguises work, or they don't. You can't have someone suddenly say "Oh, I just noticed that Clark looks like Superman behind his glasses - he must be Superman." I mean, if the disguise somehow works in their world, fine, but don't push your luck by having it only work on some people and not others.
Some things are more believable when attention isn't drawn to them.

I totally agree... but Mia manages to fall under the "future sidekick" exemption to secret identity rules. If you're destined to be someone's sidekick, then it's okay for you to see through their secret identity.
It's how Tim got the job of Robin, after all.

Actually, Ollie's secret identity has been a joke for years. In LBH he had an old lady recognise him by his ass, which she'd been perving on while he was in his tights.

Yes it was commonly known in Grells run too(soon 20 years old), people here remember the older variants i guess.
And they tried to loose the mask totaly but the fans wanted it as a part of his costume not as a disguise.
So this is really old news.

This is officially my favorite topic ever.
Ollie's beard rocks so hard sometimes it is beyond explanation. I say jump right in and start growing it now. It will probably take you about 3-4 months to grow enough of a "point" to do anything with whatsoever. Later, when you get the specifics as far as the shaving technique is concerned, you can develop its shape. Good luck, and long live the flavor-saver!
