This thread isn't devoted to films: It's the entire demographic. You know what I mean. Dramadies, Horror spoofs, and whatnot.
There are three types of films I hate:
1. The Kid-Themed Film involving "Things That Shouldn't Talktm": The exception is if the characters are memorable and was made by Pixar. These films include "Doogal", "Baby Genius", "The Wild", and (coming soon, and will be slaughtered by "The DaVinci Code") "Over the Hedge". Here is how they are bad:
Have a few has-been stars do the voice talents
Make the characters cute animals or inanimate objects people like (i.e. trains, ovens, etc.)
Include endless butt and fart jokes
Have a ridiculous plot nobody believes
And they wonder why our kids are so dumb.
2. The Dramady- Drama/Comedy hybrid all guys despise. The reason is obvious: It's a Date Movie!
3. Remakes of classic films, but crammed with more special effects. As I said in "Poseidon", effects don't make the film that memorable.
Basically, another "I hate mainstream movies" thread. **yawn**

It worked for the King Kong remake. It shall work for "Poseidon" as well.

I can't think of any genre that I don't like inherently. There are good and bad movies in any genre.
Apparently I'm not a 'guy,' as I enjoy dramadies quite a bit, far more than either dramas or comedies which tend to ignore one to provide the other. But then again I dont hate 'date movies' either. In fact, when on actual dates, they're very effective ways to spend part of the evening.

And yet, in the bigger picture, King Kong failed to live up to the studio's expectations, so it didn't really "work" at all.

I can name a dozen great movies that didnt do well at the box office. The money it made means nothing in regards as to how good it was.

I hate action movies, with all those stupid expolisions.
I hate romantic-comedys because no one acts like that in real life.
I hate comic book movies because they never get it right.
I hate horror movies because they're too predictable, and if they aren't predictable enough, I hate them for being to wierd.
I hate kids movies because they're juvenile.
I hate remakes, because they're never as good as the original, although I hated the original too.
In fact, the only movies worth watching are anime (in Japanese, translation sucks!) and Kevin Smith movies (except Jersey Girl).

When does the Poseidon ship fall in love with the girl & climb up the Empire State Building?

You can't take the ape falling in love with the woman, that's the main part of the story in all 3 versions!
I enjoyed Poseidon. It was a fun ride.
I've got to say I can live without Snakes on a Plane!
A Superman movie in which Krypton didn't blow up - I'm glad we avoided that one!

Any of the detestable "Nonconformist savior educates the common man" movies, about half of which star Robin Williams.

It does to the studio and since they're the ones that pay to have these things made, I don't think you're going to see another "King Kong" any time soon. Quality is a purely subjective, personal thing. Box office receipts are what makes the movie industry go 'round.

I absolutely hate 'eye candy' movies, the ones where they figure people are going to go to see the special effects, so why bother actually having a plot of interesting characters? Just blow shit up.
Unfortunately, isn't that most movies these days?

It's not the ape falling inlove with the woman that I couldn't take. It is the woman falling inlove with the ape.
In the original film she was scared sh*tless of King Kong but PJ turned it into a girl meets ape movie.
JAWS 4: The Revenge: Run dry from the franchise, the shark suddenly gets personal, although it does look fake when the shark warbles along in the water as people die horrible deaths. Oh yes, Mrs. Brody can suddenly "sense" the shark. Is this why she went to Jamaica? JAWS 2 contradicts JAWS 4 premise when the shark specialist says to Mr. Brody that sharks don't take things personally. JAWS 4: The Revenge is such as whopper that JAWS 3-D must have taken place on an alternate Earth.

"We'll just give sharks a human brain..."
What a horrible idea.
I'm dislike Romantic Comedies. I don't find them funny, but horrible wastes of time....

Track down Philip Jose' Farmer's short story "After Kong Fell" and you can understand the attraction... ;) :D

Look, I know that this might be another "Mainstream Movie" thread, but the thing is, I just wanted to show my dislike for mindless children movies. They waste film space, and suck hard.

How 'bout killer gators that are not the size of Lake Placid? Now that is a realistic idea.

They also follow the same plot:
X loves Y
Y leaves, saying the George Costanza statement
X follows Y and sees Y with Z
Impossible things occur
Z is going to marry Y
Mad dash/stupid plot-filled mayhem
Last second scene has X telling Y not to marry Z
X and Y get back together, and Z is treated like Meg Griffin
