what is the VU special about??? is it really importent 2 get? and are the other specials importent 2 get???

they are 'impotent 3 get'

but really --the vu special is a 'filler' to explain how the villians broke out and 'wreaked some havok.'

the dov special was all about how the magic age ended and another started..

the checkmate special (the omac one) was all about how brother eye crashed to earth and .. etc.

none were essential. but they were interesting.

The VU Special shows the super-villain breakout and why they converge on Metropolis. It also shows how the heroes found out about it.

The DOV Special shows why the Spectre was merged with a new host body and the final fates of Nabu, the Seven Deadly Sins and the Rock of Eternity.

The RTW Special shows the ending of the war and how Kyle Rayner becomes Ion again.

The OMAC Project reveals the final fate of Brother Eye and the OMACs.

If you read the main mini and didn't wonder what happened to these storylines then, no, they aren't important. They just flesh out the story a little more, much as the IC Secret Files did.

Villains United Special may not have been "crucial" to the IC picture as a whole, but it was the best thing put out from DC in the past few months. :)
